6 Ways To Own It And Live Your Best Life This Summer

Living in Brisbane, we’re blessed with balmy weather, a thriving food and drink scene and natural splendour right at our fingertips. So, in the spirit of living your best life this summer, we’ve curated the ultimate hit list so you can get out there, own it, and experience it all. And although we love to bliss out at the beach all summer long, we’ve partnered with Brisbane BMW to help you freshen up your calendar and ultimately own it this summer.

Get Your Adrenaline Pumping

With a slew of mind-bending escape rooms, boozy mini-golf courses, karaoke rooms and murder mysteries popping up all over Brisbane recently, there’s plenty to keep you entertained this summer. Rally the crew and head to everyone’s favourite putt putt party, Holey Moley. Each of the 18 holes have their own theme like Alice in Wonderland, Harry Potter and most recently they opened two karaoke rooms to get you singing and swinging all night long. Ramp up your detective cred with a Cluedo-style immersive murder mystery experience or hit up one of Brisbane’s best escape rooms for a high-octane, low-stakes game. You’ll be locked in a room with your mates, relying only on your clever wits to solve puzzles that will lead you to find the key to the door before time runs out. Our palms are sweating already.

Hit Up A Next-Level Gig

Summer is synonymous with festival season, so get ready to hit all the best mosh pits and soak up some dance-heavy beats. The festival calendar is absolutely stacked this year but you’d be mad to miss Falls, Laneway, and SandTunes (the Gold Coast’s newest and hottest festival featuring music heavy-hitters like CHVRCHES, Sampa The Great, and Tkay Maidza). There’s plenty of gigs to get excited about too like Hermitude, Two Door Cinema Club and Hot Chip coming to town, giving you even more reason to check out the new much-hyped Fortitude Music Hall. The one we’re most excited about, though? Dog-friendly Nine Lives Festival at The Tivoli. If you’ve been wanting to treat your furry friend to some damn good tunes, snap up your tickets immediately.

Plan A Road Trip

Sure, we love exploring our own backyard but summer calls for adventure, and what better way to experience something new than by hitting the road with your best mates. With idyllic countryside awaiting to the west, kilometres of pristine coastline stretching north and south, and spectacular islands sitting just off the east coast, we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to planning a road trip from Brisbane. The Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast are an obvious choice, but for something a little different, take the less ‘Grammed route and drive south-west until you find yourself in the heart of Queensland’s Granite Belt where you’ll spend your day clambering over boulders, exploring cellar doors and sampling food at local cheese factories. Looking for more destination inspiration? Check out all the best day trips from Brisbane or if you’re looking to make a weekend out of it, these are the best weekend getaways you need to book right away. And if you're looking for some next-level wheels with less environmental impact, the new BMW 1 Series is by far the most stylish way to hit the road.

Relish A Few Rooftops

With the neverending stream of cool new rooftop patios, glamorous speakeasies and swish wine bars that have hit Brisbane recently, let summer be your excuse to try them all. If you’re looking to soak up our glorious balmy weather, Howard Smith Wharves is a no brainer. Kick back on the lawn at Felon’s, or for a fancy affair head straight to Mr. Percival’s for a zesty cocktail and Moreton Bay bug rolls. We all know a delicious dish is best enjoyed at altitude, so if you’re looking for a bar with a view, head to the city, ride the elevator straight to the top and step out onto the W Brisbane WET Deck Pool bar. Kick back with a cocktail and prepare for one of the best sunsets of your life. There’s plenty more bars to explore in The Valley and the city, so start ticking them off one by one.

Fill Your Fork

There’s no denying Brisbane’s gastronomic scene is absolutely booming with a new restaurant seemingly popping up by the minute (no complaints here). With silly season just around the corner, you’re undoubtedly on the hunt for a new place to catch up with friends, family or workmates that’ll deliver a delicious time. In case you’ve been living under a rock, Brisbane institution LONgTIME recently closed their doors forever but the good news is they’re opening a new venue in Ada Lane called Same Same, so book a table for your summer soiree immediately. It’s joining other James Street newbies Beaux Rumble and SK Steak & Oyster (from the same team who brought us the most Instagrammed spot in 2019, Hellenika). Foodies and influencers alike will be falling over themselves to snap a pic at these new hot spots, so book a table right away and beat them to it. Your summer never tasted so good.

Snap A Pic In A Sunflower Field

For a breathtaking experience, fire up the ‘Gram and catch fields of sunflowers in full bloom this summer. You’ll find these glorious golden fields on The Sunflower Route—Route 11—the main highway between the towns of Warwick and Allora in the Southern Downs. To get there, drive south-west of Brisbane for approx 1.5 hours to Warwick, then take to the road along Sunflower Route, which is approximately 50 kilometres long. Here’s the catch, sunflower season is pretty short, so plan your trip around late January to the end of February. This road trip is definitely bucket list-worthy and though it's a lengthy one, thanks to the new BMW 1 Series spacious interior, it'll be a comfy one.

Get ready to live your best life this summer, thanks to the new BMW 1 Series. Be sure to swing by Brisbane BMW to test drive the new stylish BMW 1 Series wheels and you'll be on your way to owning it in no time.
