We Got Our Feast On At Jamie’s Italian, And It Rocked!

If there’s one thing we Aussies love more than a backyard BBQ, it’s Italian. Linguine, limoncello, you name it; we want it on our plates and in our bellies!

We’ve been lucky enough to be graced with some pretty epic Italian restaurants in Brisbane over the years, but there is one man whose reputation for his love of great-tasting food needs no introduction. Enter, Mr Jamie Oliver. The fast-talking foodie fanatic from Essex has long held a flame for the delights of Italian fare, and with the rollout of Jamie’s Italians across the country; we’re just being plain spoilt!

In the heart of the city is where Jamie’s Italian set up shop last year, with hoards of hungry Brisbaneites getting hooked on Jamie’s authentic Italian dishes ever since.

The low-lit space is achingly Italian; hanging cured meats and herbs around the bar and kitchen area are reminiscent of a traditional trattoria, while the bustling space and the sounds of hungry diners make this a very vibrant locale for a spot of feasting—Italian style!

Jamie himself is an advocate for locally sourced, fresh ingredients, so it goes without saying that Jamie’s Italian’s menu is a what’s what of local Aussie produce (we definitely approve!).

Primi is a non-negotiable at any Italian dining table, so naturally we went native, tucking into Ricotta Bruschetta, Crispy Porcini Mushroom Arancini, and the Fried Stuffed Olives to start (oh, the olives!).

We then ravaged the Tagliolini Vongole made with local Aussie pipis, the Free-Range Pork Chop, Jamie’s infamous Polenta Chips (what is eating without chips?) and a table buffer of flash-fried Fritto Misto.

And of course we had dessert! The special for the evening, the Cappuccino Profiterole is all of your sweet dreams on a plate, and the classic Panna Cotta was faultless. Don’t deny it, there’s always room for dessert!

Dining at Jamie’s will transform even the slightest of eaters; the constant smell of freshly fried garlic, sauces, warm bread, and steaming spaghetti will seduce you, rendering you simply unable to not clear your plate. You’ll want in on it all of it. This is Italian dining: no judgements, no airs and graces, so grab a fork and shove it in your face!

Just don’t expect any leftovers…
