Spring has finally sprung people and we’re are SO ready for it. See ya later ugg boots, jumpers and chilly mornings, hello beach weather, outdoor activities and longer days. The Coast absolutely thrives in spring with a whole host of truly awesome events. From food truck festivals, live music and even a puppy market (yes, we said puppy market) there are loads of fun things to.

Diaries at the ready, where are best things to do in September on the Gold Coast.

Sample Food Festival

Foodies you’re in for a serious treat, jump in your car and head to Byron for the Sample Food Fest. This one-day event celebrates the diverse and rich produce, chefs and artisans the Northern Rivers are renowned for. Expect $5 and $10 tasting places from the menus of 26 epic restaurants including Harvest and No Bones, as well as over 100 market stalls, plus live music, kids activities and cooking demos. We suggest wearing elasticated pants.

When: Saturday 1 September, 8am till 4pm

After a sell-out five-week season, we have some very good news, Infamous is back for an unprecedented second season. Hold on to your hats ladies and gents because this adults-only circus cabaret packs a serious punch. Taking place under the Spiegel Big Top you’ll see naughty characters, world-class dancers, acrobats and comedians that will literally take your breath away. For a mix of hair-raising circus acts combined with truly saucy cabaret, Infamous is absolutely one for the diary.

First Fridays At Hotel Miami

Talented artists, musicians and DJs strutting their stuff at the southern end's favourite coworking space, Hotel Miami? Yas, please! This month the good folk at Hotel Miami are showcasing the works of uber talented artist Sophie Pearson and her collection of seriously cool illustrations and collages. Latin American food truck Little Wahaca and the gang from Young Henry’s will also be there to keep you fed and watered. Let the good times roll.

When: Friday 7 September; 6pm until 10pm

Twilight Night At Cornerstone

If there’s cheese, there’s us. And Cornerstone’s Twilight Night in Tugun is the best excuse we’ve come across to eat it by the wheel. Kick back with a cold one, a cutie and your picnic rug, all with catchy live music crooning in the background. Best of all, share boards and mezze plates are on the ready so your sunset session comes fully catered.

Paws and Pizzazz

Grab your furry four-legged friends and head to The Marine Village at Sanctuary Cove for the annual Paws and Pizzazz day out. The pet-friendly event has a whole bunch of fun activities to ensure you and your pooches have a truly memorable day. There’s pet photo booth, market stalls, caricature artists, educational seminars and demos, an off-leash area and even a chill out zone called The Bone Bar. Sah cute!

SWELL Sculpture Festival

September is also bringing the goods with the return of much-loved SWELL Sculpture Festival.  An annual affair run over nine days, catch local and international sculpture designers, creatives and artworks scattered across the glorious Currumbin foreshore. Unique experiences such as guided twilight walks, chats with the artists, life drawing workshops and pumping live tunes on weekends from the Sculpture Sounds stage are sure to tickle your fancy.

Gold Coast Food Truck Carnival 

Australia’s biggest Food Truck Carnival is rolling into the GC so pop on your elasticated pants and grab your gang for three days of serious eating. Featuring live entertainment, DJs, kids rides, activations and obvs, loads and loads of food trucks, you won’t want to miss this one.

When: Friday 14 September; 5pm till 8pm, Saturday and Sunday 15-16 September; 12pm till 10pm 
Where: Broadwater Parklands, Marine Parade, Southport

Botanical Bazaar

Greenies rejoice, there’s an absolutely awesome garden festival taking over the Coast. Whether you’re a novice or an avid gardener, you’ll be inspired to transform your abode into a green paradise with over 90 exhibitions showing urban and organic gardening, art and sustainable living concepts. There’s also workshops, demonstrations and educational talks.

When: Sunday 16 September; 9am till 4pm

Cooking Demonstrations With Georgia Barnes

We don’t know about you guys but sometimes we need a little extra inspo when we step into the kitchen. Enter Masterchef alumni and nutritionist Georgia Barnes and her uber helpful masterclasses. Held every month until the end of the year, you’ll learn new tips and tricks in the kitchen, be inspired with new recipes, get to taste Georgia’s delish food and AND there’s a goodie bag. Win!

Outdoor Cinema At Burleigh Brewing Co.

Not content with simply serving up some of the Coast’s most epic brews, GC fave, Burleigh Brewing Co. is back with their outdoor cinema. That’s right people, beers and blockbusters all under the night sky #winning. So throw back some of their ice-cold brews, a bucket of popcorn and relax in their deck chairs while watching Oscar-winning flick No Country For Old Men. Sounds like the perfect Thursday to us!

When: Thursday 27 September, doors open at 6pm, film starts at 7pm

Rainbow Revolution

Nine Lives Bazaar are throwing a seriously rad shindig to celebrate the launch of their next collection, Rainbow Revolution. The evening will be a celebration of freedom, expression and love baby! As well as plenty of surprises on the night, you can expect 70s surf rock beats, interactive art mural, body paint stations and much more. And because it’s held at Miami Marketta there will of course be beer, cider and cocktails aplenty.
