It's here, guys. The latest dining house to join Shannon Bennett's delicious restaurant family is set to open next Wednesday. We love a seafood spread as much as the next fun-loving Aussie, and knowing the Vue Group we can expect some outrageously delicious and unique dishes.
The crux of this restaurant is simple – native ingredients, seasonality and locality. If it swims, crawls or blobs around in the ocean, it's fair game.
Similar to its older brother Vue de Monde, Iki-Jime will be using some serious high-tech technology to bring the flavours of our favourite sea treasures to Normanby Chambers (and eventually, your plate).
The menu champions high-quality seafood dishes, designed to share. The elegant dining room offers an intimate dining experience – perfect for a celebrating large group or a duo of bar snacking, nightcap-digging locals.
“The addition of a Josper charcoal oven will be the main engine for cooking and, just like Vue de Monde, a sense of place is important," Bennett says. "Native ingredients, seasonality and locally-sourced produce will drive the components paired with each dish. The menu is designed for sharing; allowing our guests to interact and embrace the true meaning of dining - to have fun.”
If you're a fan of the (now defunct) Bistro Vue, you'll like this. Mostly because it's taken over the old space. Iki-Jime promises Australia’s finest seafood...with a Bennett twist. We’re already calling it a Melbourne institution.
