Craving A Mean Cold Brew On The Coast? Here's Who Does It Best.

By Claire Plush - 21 Jan 2016

If ever there were a season that could claim cold brew as its own, it’s summer.

And seeing we’re in the brunt of the steamy months here on the Coast, swapping our regular hot morning brews for the cold kind has become a regular thing.

No longer is an iced coffee topped with a tower of cream the way to our caffeine-hungry hearts on a scorcher of a day. We’re all about the cold-drip baby, where milk, coffee, and sugar come together in a bottle for our tasting pleasure.

Turns out the cafes who serve the best coffee on the Sunshine Coast are also our fave places to down a cold brew. Feelin’ thirsty? Hit this list!

Clandestino Roasters

If you haven’t see Clandestino’s Wall of Cold Drip, it’s a sight for thirsty eyes. But we’re not talkin’ about looks, flavour is what counts, and Clandestino delivers with its bottled cold drip coffee, chilled to utter perfection. Not a coffee fan? We’ll never understand you, but these guys obvs do, so are offering an in-house cold drip tea.

Where: 59 Rene Street, Noosaville

The Good Bean Espresso

Summer, beach, bare feet…Cold brew. See, it just fits. Cold brew was born for the Sunshine Coast lifestyle and the team at The Good Bean Espresso would NEVER put a subpar version out into the world, especially when they’re the maestros of roasting. That’s why you’ve got to nab one of their perfect cold-pressed iced lattes. Holy wow! Rich, sweet, and smooth in a bottle, it doesn’t get much better.

Lamkin Lane

Served in a conspicuous brown bottle much like last night’s beers you’re trying to come back from, Lamkin Lane’s cold-pressed coffee is the ultimate gateway to hitting refresh on a slow cumbersome day. Never dropped by this cute espresso bar? Make it your next pit stop for a takeaway to throw in the beach bag on the way to Kings.

Where: 31 Lamkin Lane, Caloundra

Sunshine Sunshine Espresso

We dare you to skip beachside Currimundi just once, and instead run the gauntlet that is Nicklin Way to the other side where you’ll discover the hidden Sunshine Sunshine Espresso. This espresso bar slash roaster is the place to head for a seriously local slow-dripped iced latte or straight black cold drip. Yeah, the green beans are from OS but they’re roasted into a signature blend by these Sunshine-y folk and then paired with Maleny Dairies milk, for a complete flavour sensation. What could be better? Pairing your cold brew with an all-star cronut will take your morning hit to the next level.

Where: 23/9 Lomandra Drive, Currimundi

The Island Surf & Espresso

Rated by us as one of the best surf and espresso bars on the Sunshine Coast, this Mudjimba café serves up an epic, made in-house, cold-press coffee going by the name of Uncle Scooter’s Brew. Walk in hot and bothered and sandy to The Island Surf & Espresso, walk out on an energy high and kitted with some new threads. Hell yeah!
