Another point goes to Sydney’s West, with the announcement of the second surf park to hit our town in as many weeks; this time in the Olympic Park. UrbnSurf Sydney will fill the (massive) site in Homebush, so those of us who aren’t blessed with the ocean on our doorstep can finally get our share of the surfer’s high.
This won’t be your average water park either, because the surfing lagoon will feature Wavegarden wave generating technology. Not sure what that is? We weren’t either. But all you need to know is that it’ll deliver authentic surfing waves, ranging from 0.6m to 1.7m high, depending on your experience and the level of extreme you want to add to your Saturday afternoons.
For novice surfers, there’ll also be a surf-training academy where you can learn the tricks of the trade on the perfectly crafted waves at UrbnSurf, before showing off your mad skills at the beach in summer.
UrbnSurf isn’t trying to take the place of our beautiful coastlines, but instead, they are offering surfers options and flexibility. Options like night surfing, with LED lagoon lighting ensuring that the fun will continue well into the evening.
If that’s not enough (you adrenaline junkie, you), they’re also installing a climbing wall, parkour trail and skate course at this action sports precinct. For those needing to chill out a bit from all the action, there will also be beach cabanas, a roof top bar and beach club and a fully licensed café.
Construction is set to kick off in late 2018 and you'll be hanging ten come 2019.
