The 2018 Vivid Sydney Program Is Finally Here!

Anyone who has experienced Sydney during Vivid knows it’s a damn good time. So it’s no surprise that when the program drops, so too do our collective jaws, as we work our way through all of the awesome.

The team behind one of our all time favourite Sydney events is at it again. It is literally bigger, expanding into Luna Park for the very first time—which means yes, all of the lights with all of the rides. Specifically, the iconic Ferris Wheel will be lit up like a god damn Christmas tree.

Sydney’s old favourites—Opera House, Martin Place, Darling Harbour, The Rocks, Taronga Zoo, Royal Botanic Gardens and Barangaroo—are gearing up to do it all again (but better than ever, obvs) and we’re headed O.T.B to Chatswood where you’ll be diving deep into NASA’s imagery and 360-degree projection.

If you really don't want to schlep it over the bridge though, you'll be pleased to hear Chatswood has upped its game in a big way this year. Yep, Vivid is taking over Chatswood. Running each night from 5.30pm to 10.30pm, this Vivid precinct will have a pop-up Light Market lit by lasers and constructed from scaffolding and recycled materials, those 360-degree projections of NASA imagery at ‘Future Scape’ we mentioned earlier, plus more. As with the rest of Vivid, it’s a family-friendly event so all are welcome (just come hungry, ‘kay?).

And if, to this point, you’ve been living under a rock and are yet to realise there’s more to Vivid than lights on buildings (although that is damn cool), there’ll also be Vivid Music, Vivid Live and Vivid Ideas

Vivid Music is the program you need to check out if one off gigs are your jam and this year, the line up is ridic, with winners like Ice Cube and Solange hitting Sydney. Meanwhile, Vivid Ideas is all about talks that explore things like creativity and NASA with Dan Goods and Vivid Live basically encompasses the lot plus a little bit more.

For all this and so much more head here.
