Where To Drink Cocktails In Sydney If You’re Obsessed With Gin

By Phoebe McRae

We gin lovers are a dedicated bunch, after all there’s nothing a little gin can’t solve*.

Luckily for us, January (read: GINuary) happens to be one of the best months of the year to gin-fully indulge. One of our favourite makers, Bombay Sapphire, have put together a drool-worthy line-up of pop-up events and limited edition cocktails to properly celebrate the first month of 2018.

So, if you’re a gin-lover in Sydney, these venue’s cocktails will blow. Your. Mind.

*This is not 100% accurate.

Chiswick's Gin On The Lawn

Chiswick is never a bad idea so if you’re a lover of gin, you’re going to want to hit up Gin On The Lawn ASAP. Here for a good time, not a long time (ICYMI it’s called Ginuary), the trendy crew have partnered with Bombay Sapphire to serve up $10 garden G&Ts on their fancy AF lawn every Wednesday until 7 February. From 5:30pm to 7:30pm, you can wrap your lips around $10 garden G&Ts or a summer collins for 12 bucks, with complimentary canapes from the restaurant while listening to live acoustic beats and living your best life. Mid-week drinking doesn’t get much better than this.

Eau De Vie's Martini Trolley

Sydney bars don’t get much fancier than Eau De Vie. One of our fave places to drink cocktails after dark, these legends have a new Star Of Bombay Martini Trolley for guaranteed good times. WTF is a martini trolley? Think a drinks trolley with a liquid nitrogen tap that chills your glass (so your drink is ice cold) and serves only martinis in front of you. Yes, really .The best part? You can order a flight of four minis martinis for only $50.

Regatta Sunday Sessions

Rose Bay

If you’re after a sneaky Sunday session with alllll of the gin, make Regatta in Rose Bay your go-to. With one of the best views in Sydney, you can seat yourself on the deck and spend the afternoon sipping your fave liquor in cocktail form at their epic Ginuary Sunday Sessions running all month. Starting at 3pm, there’ll be an in house DJ so you can boogie and plenty of small bites to avoid any sort of hangriness.

Busby’s Pop Up Bar at the Royal Botanic Gardens

ICYMI there’s a pop-up shipping container doubling as a gin bar smack bang in the middle of the Royal Botanic Garden RN. Open every day until March, you can BYO your own picnic rug and unwind on the grass with as many Bombay Sapphire G&Ts and cocktails as you goddamn you want. Sign us up.

The Barbershop

There’s a reason why these guys were voted Australia’s best gin bar. Hidden behind a (you guessed it) barbershop, The Barbershop was made for after work drinks. Whether you want to DIY your own martini or quench your thirst with a classic G&T, don’t go home without tasting one of their signature cocktails. We’re talking the Fleet street (with Bombay Sapphire, chartreuse, pineapple, lemon and bitters) or snow pea and almond fizz (think gin, snow pea juice, almond oil, coconut cream and soda). Do yourself a favour and order one of both.

Whale Beach

When you want to get out of the city head right on up to Whale Beach and treat yourself to a post-surf gin hit at the oh-so famous Jonahs with panoramic views overlooking the beach from their terrace bar. Mixing up your fave G&T with a twist, choose from flavours such as orange and peppercorn, mint and ginger, or lemon and thyme. Talk about refreshing! They also have a dreamy house made Kaffir lime infused Bombay Sapphire gin on the menu… just sayin’.
