Holy calamity, it’s Gin Sanity, coming to use for one glorious Saturday afternoon this Februaruy for a rollicking celebration of the refreshing taste of juniper. Hosted by The APO and Laruche, this will be Brisbane’s first ever gin festival thumping out the back in Bakery Lane.

If you’re as big a gin nerd as I am, this news will tickle you right down to the cockles of your soul.

As part of a collaboration between Brisbane’s Moubment Group and Toowoomba’s Cooreyosity Group, Gin Sanity is tipped for a veritable orgy of Australian and international gin merchants, strutting their stuff with classic G&Ts and a signature gin-based cocktail of their own composition. More crafters are being added all the time but the current list includes some proper mavens: Sipsmith, London’s first copper pot distillery in almost 200 years; Australia’s much-decorated Archie Rose; Whitley Neill, the English crafters claiming to have distilled the heart of Africa; and The Botanist, small-batch crafters from Islay (more on their tasting notes here).

Throw in some live sounds and snackery and we’ve got ourselves a proper laneway rumpus to send summer on its merry way.

Book your tickets ASAP, brush up on your gin history to prime your palate, and we’ll see you there!
