Us Brisbanites love a good brekky; give us a coffee, some buttered toast and a couple of eggs and you’d make our day. A new opening or uncovering a hidden Brisbane breakfast gem practically gives us heart palpitations!

So when word of a new morning menu hit our desks, needless to say, we hot-footed it out the door to check it out.

Tucked away in the lush surrounds of the beautiful 18-hole golf course at Victoria Park in Herston, lies a Brisbane brekky menu that will knock your little socks off!

Victoria Park’s Bar & Bistro is in a pretty enviable location; encased by beautiful manicured gardens, sweeping CBD views, it’s also incredibly peaceful, and they do a mean coffee. It’s not as though it even needs to try to be good; it already is. But one thing that you might not know about this discreet little bistro is they do a cracking breakfast.

Newly appointed Breakfast Chef Andrew Tolley—the brains behind this great little menu—has honed his skill inside a fair few of Brisbane’s best restaurants and cafes (Pearl Café, Merriweather Café and King Arthur, to name just a few of our faves), bringing with him his wholefood cooking philosophy. It would be fair to say he knows a thing or two about upping the ante for the best meal of the day.

Focusing on using locally sourced ingredients, seasonal produce and a good dose of clever breakfast clout, Victoria Park’s Bar & Bistro has a few gems on the menu that will coax even the most dedicated eggs benny devotee out of their shell.

Top of the list is easily their vegetarian breakfast ramen; packed with fresh veggies, house-made broth, noodles, and a poached egg, it’s pretty rare to find on any breakfast menu, but you’ll be rewarded for stepping outside the eggs and toast box.

Other standouts such as the coconut bircher and the pork hock and honey cured bacon (alongside baked eggs, tomato, basil and chilli), make breakfast at Victoria Park’s Bar & Bistro a totally refreshing experience.

So say no to your regs breakfast haunt this weekend and put down your burnt vegemite toast; wake up with the intention of trying something new. Go on, treat yourself!
