Since first hitting the mean streets of Nundah in 2015, Fitz + Potts became the favoured roost of locals on the lookout for a bevvie and a bask in the sunshine. Where once Northsiders had to actually commute to a Sunday sesh, this bar brought the cheer to the suburbs, becoming everyone’s second home. But it seems that the idyll is about to be interrupted as Fitz + Potts find themselves right in the middle of a patch of prime real estate poised to become the site of a new development.
The proposed project would see a multi-level development take over the hub of Nundah, adding dozens of extra apartments to the saturated market, and fears that this will suck the soul out of the suburb are well-founded and rising.
Residents eager to preserve the authenticity of the neighbourhood have rallied with an e-petition challenging the proposal, citing a negative impact upon Nundah's ‘village lifestyle’ as a key grievance. We'd be peeved too. At time of writing, 1716 signatures had been added to the petition.
Love Fitz + Potts as much as we do? Sign the petition, here. Meanwhile, pop down for a cheeky bevvie—they're a bloody nice bunch.
