Bulimba's recent resurgence as a cool food locale continues with the opening tomorrow of new homestyle eatery Ooh Mami, on the corner of Oxford and Riddell Streets.
Promising wholesome, hearty food inspired by the owners' own mother's cooking, Ooh Mami's menu is equal parts comforting and healthy.
Ooh Mami caters to the time-poor but health conscious crowd, who crave quick but nutritious meals but don't have the time to do their own home cooking. So, pretty much everybody.
A selection of sandwiches — with yummy fillings like six-hour slow braised lamb, roast eggplant, capsicum, red onion and apple, rosemary and mint relish — sits alongside 'Hearty Salads', a soup of the day, sharing plates, and a variety of 'Square Meals', just like Mum used to make. Our pick is the za'atar-spiced chicken with brown rice and spring onions, tabbouli, and tahini dipping sauce.
Flavour inspirations seem varied but American homestyle cooking is the clear influence with in the sides offering with Memphis slaw, sweet potato wedges, and steak cut chips all getting a guernsey.
Ooh Mami is open 7 days a week and starts serving up their homestyle goodness from Thursday.
