Forget everything you thought you knew about sports bars because Harry’s Steak Bistro and Bar in Burleigh is changing the game.

The popular restaurant, located just up the road from Jimmy Wahs and Iku, is known for its excellent service, delicious cocktails and melt-in-your-mouth steak. And now, they’ve got another win on their hands, converting part of the restaurant into a 70-seat specialised sports bar.

You won’t find plastic chairs or a TAB here, the fit-out is just as sleek as the restaurant with exposed brick walls, polished concrete floors and touches of dark leather. There’s thoughtful memorabilia dotted around the venue, paying homage to the greats of sport such as Sir Donald Bradman, Michael Jordan, Greg Norman Joe Montana, Wally Lewis and Cathy Freeman to name a few.

For your viewing pleasure, there are five flat screens playing events from the NBA, NFL, AFL, Rugby League and World Surfing League. Come September, they’ll be opening early to stream the Rugby World Cup live from Japan. Now that’s commitment.

But one of our favourite features of Harry’s Sports Bar has to be the sports trophy case which will showcase the loyal customer's favourite sports memorabilia. Anyone can apply to get their memorabilia in the trophy case, giving the locals bragging rights alongside an exclusive Harry’s membership entitling them to discounts and first dibs on tables for main events.

And because no good game of sport can be properly enjoyed without snacks, Harry’s Sports Bar has their own menu; featuring the infamous Harry’s chicken wings, as well as calamari, fried pickles and moreish three cheese and artichoke dip.

They’ll also have daily specials like $10 poutine on Tuesdays and $15 juicy burgers on Wednesdays.

And if you work up a bigger appetite with all that cheering, the 230g Belted Galloway rump and the 270g Scotch Silverfern fillet are on offer, as are a Wagyu cheeseburger and a cajun chicken burger.

Harry's Sports Bar is open Monday to Thursday from 5pm and from midday on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
