We all know and love the Gold Coast’s famous culture and arts festival Bleach, but this year’s addition to the cultural celebrations will make the 2019 version one to remember. For the first time ever, production company Strut and Fret have announced their Spiegeltent concept; a kaleidoscope of world-class entertainment all under one massive tent. And when we say entertainment, we mean all kinds of it.
Think cabaret, circus events, music performances, stand-up comedy, theatre productions, dance groups, and much more.
From 17 April to 12 May, the Spiegeltent will host over 30 performers across a range of genres, kicking off with the Helpmann Award-nominated production of Limbo Unhinged, and finishing with a cabaret performance from renowned showbiz queen Carlotta. And in between, there’ll be a star-studded line-up of talented local performers on display, including stand-up from Tom Gleeson, Osher Gunsberg, Peter Helliar, Tommy Little, and Dave Hughes, plus musical performances from Katie Noonan, Elixir, and Joan as Police Woman.
Erected for the first time in an all-new location at the Gold Coast Bulletin Centenary Park, the Spiegeltent is set to bring a new level of excitement and vibrancy to the Bleach Festival. And whether you’re into poetry, a bit of light-hearted comedy, satirical political humour, or even pyrotechnics and sword swallowing, there will be all kinds of performances taking place under the tent.
And if you’re not already convinced, you’ll be pleased to know that this pop-up venue will also feature a festival-style bar and food area featuring delicious bites from local vendors. So, it’s probably worth stopping by if you’re a fan of good food, good drinks, and even better entertainment.
The full festival program is now live on their website, and tickets for Spiegeltent events are already on sale, so get in quick to secure your spot. For more information, click here.
