Aussie Weekend at Mr P.P.'s
Get in on a slice of Aussie history in Southport's restored Ambulance Station. Serving up sanga pizzas, Hawaiian eats, $5 beers 2pm-6pm and an extended happy hour all weekend long, Mr P.P.'s has your Australia Day weekend sorted. Hosting live music all weekend and DJs Saturday night from 7pm, we suggest booking ahead of time so you don’t miss out.
Kick It Old School At Retros
Grab your best Aussie-inspired outfits because Retros are throwing a four-day-long Australia Day party and there’s a bunch of best-dressed prizes up for grabs. Blaring your fave Aussie hits from the 80s, 90s and 00s, we’re calling it one of the best thing to do this Australia Day for the groovers among us. Drop by Thursday 24th until Sunday 28th, 9pm onwards.
Get Swinging At Topgolf
If battling the crowds and spending hours trying to score a park by the beach isn’t really your thing, Topgolf has you covered. Their low-key competitive long weekend summer party mixes spinning decks with swinging clubs. Pour in a couple of beers, gourmet bar eats and Triple J’s top 100 on Sunday and you’ve got yourself three whole days’ worth of reasons to tee into the end of January at TG. Pull up the caddy 9am ‘till 10pm Saturday through to Monday.
Lounge On The Lawn At The Garden Bar
The Star is serious about their love for the greatest country on Earth. In fact, they’ve been celebrating Australia Day since the 14th! The party doesn’t stop until the 28th, but Australia Day is set to be the biggest one of all. There’s pop up kitchens across The Garden Bar’s lush lawn, a selection of craft beers and cocktails on offer and entertainment galore. Swoon over Mark O’keefe from 1.30 then superstar DJ Brooke Evers will be on the decks from 5pm.

Aperol's 'Australia Day-Cation' at The Island
Celebrating all things summer, The Island blasted an open invite to their rooftop, pool-deck Australia Day-Cation and we’re impressed. In true Aussie fashion, The Island are opening the kitchens for Aperol Spritz and eats combos, all day grazing and they’ve even waived an entry fee. If you’ve talked the whole gang into joining you from noon, secure your cityscape view by enquiring ahead of time.
Rooftop Hangs At Justin Lane
Justin Lane can always be counted on for a good time, and this long weekend is no exception. Certain to be one of the best Australia Day parties on the Coast, JL’s soiree kicks off at 2pm with DJ Little Fritter and Shimmy Disco on the decks until well after sundown spinning mash ups of Aussie classics. Cocktails in the sunshine, anyone?
Australia Day Bonanza at Brewed Brewery
Nothing says long weekend goals like hanging out with your mates, sinking a few cold ones and taking a well deserved dip. So, your Australia Day on the Gold Coast just got better with Brewed Brewery’s Australia Day Bonanza. Choose between 22 tap beers, chomp on buckets of prawns or snags on the deck and try your luck at mudcrab racing. Watch the sun melt into the sea after an all-day Straya cheers, 11am to 10pm.

Embracing the Gold Coast’s beach culture minus the sand, QT’s Summer Soiree has everything you need for a truly relaxing Australia Day. Cute as a button swim up bar, boozy snow cones, poolside DJ, plus Corona and taco specials make this event a must do. Then head to the Calypso Deck from 2pm Saturday for a sunsoaked arvo and sweet tunes.
Food Truck Fun At NightQuarter
Northern Gold Coast’s bustling food truck village, NightQuarter is hosting a corker of an Australia Day shindig on January 26. Cockroach races (eep!), thong throwing challenges, snag eating comps and Aussie anthems by tongue in cheek covers band Prime Ministers of Australia. It’s shaping up to be one of the biggest Australia Day parties on the Gold Coast. Kicking off at 4pm, it’ll cost you just $3 a pop for entry.
Laid back Fun At The Burleigh Hotel
An adored-position all year long, it’s our guess that heading to Burleigh Hill will be on many lists for thing to do this Australia Day. But seeking solace from the sun is a given too. Burleigh Hotel has you sorted with music from 7pm, sports on the big screen, meat and seafood trays plus dining from 11.30am. Expect this one to run into the wee hours of Sunday morning.
Vinnie's Dive Bar
Southport’s latest moody rock’n’roll bar is equal parts charming and cool. Visiting Vinnie’s Dive Bar is the perfect thing to do on the Gold Coast this Australia Day for anyone wanting to wake up on Sunday without a dreaded thong tan. Boasting five local acts, squeeze in for just $10 at the door from 7pm.
