If any of you Perthlings are worried about running out of new restaurants, bars and cafes to try, let us just assure you right now that you’ve got absolutely nothing to worry about. What you should be worried about is how you are ever going to make it to all of these new places popping up.
A mere five weeks since this story, we already have yet another mammoth list of new Perth restaurants, bars and cafes you need to know about. Deep breath, here goes…
Tiisch got us all excited with b-e-a-utiful pics of their interiors before they started teasing us with the food that would be on offer. Now they’ve opened on the corner of Milligan and Hay Streets in Perth and are making all the CBD workers very happy chappy’s.
Highgate Drink & Dine
It’s pretty difficult to say what kind of food Highgate Drink & Dine is serving apart from that it’s frikkin’ amazing. You’ll get flavours from Jamaica, some from Mexico and maybe India too. Vego’s can get excited with plenty of options like eggplant choka, saganaki and the most delish spiced carrots you'll ever taste.
Raw + More
Tucked behind a store front on Hay Street, you’d be forgiven for missing Raw + More if you didn’t know about it, but head down the laneway off Outram Street behind ANZ and you’ll be very pleased with yourself for finding this hidden gem. Serving breakfast, lunch and plenty of raw treats, this is one place all health foodies should add to their hit list.
Chin Grish is the latest Asian fusion sensation to arrive on the Victoria Park strip and it’s a real winner. The menu focuses on South-East Asian cuisine with a smattering of Chinese, Japanese and Korean flavours and the vibe is killer.
Chinta packed up shop in Doubleview and relocated to North Perth in a giant space that is working wonders for them. They’ve got an all-day menu with plenty of vegan options and beetroot sourdough that is worth writing home about.
Up Town has opened on Napoleon Street in Cottesloe, courtesy of two brothers who were once the masterminds behind Velvet Espresso. And while coffee might be the name of the game, the all day brunch menu will have you hooked.
If you’re into curry you’re going to want to check out Rajah’s Curry stat. These guys have popped up in Victoria Park straight from Singapore so you know this is the real deal. The winning dish is the fish head curry, call ahead and pre-order it if you don’t want to be disappointed!
Is Donburi has opened up their second shop in Northbridge and we couldn’t be happier. The bento boxes are as good as ever, the agedashi tofu is some of the best and the sashimi is out of control!
RoyAl’s Chicken & Burgers
Fried chicken and burgers—what more could you want in life? Wings? Done! RoyAl’s Chicken & Burgers do all the American classics you want and they do them well! If you’re feeling particularly hungry try the gringo fries—fries, chipotle pulled pork, cheese and fancy sauce. Wow.
Nic & Kolo
Nic & Kolo might be a fairly laid back cafe in Applecross but it has some serious fine dining clout behind it. Head Chef Nick Trezise has worked in the kitchens at COMO The Treasury and Print Hall so you know the food is going to be just as good as the coffee!
Recently re-opened as part of the new Sage Hotel in West Perth, Julio’s head chef Simone Ariano, who was previously at Samson’s Paddock and Nolita, will now be dishing up tasty home-style Italian cuisine with a focus on locally sourced produce.
Burnt Toast just popped up a few weeks ago in the ‘burbs of Claremont and the locals are as pleasedas punch about it! Good coffee and plenty of take away lunch options, there will also be a few vegan treats coming soon!
Ox And Rabbit
Next time you find yourself at Watertown doing a spot of bargain shopping, you should head to Ox and Rabbit and get yourself a coffee and a crazy delicious brownie. You won’t regret it.
High Street Dispensary
Freo’s newest health food hotspot, High Street Dispensary, is totally gluten free, dairy free and sugar free so nothing is off limits! It’s all designed to grab and go and it’s all delish.
Academy popped up in place of Atomic in Claremont not too long ago and we love it. Serving coffee, breakfast and nice casual lunches, the restaurant transforms in the evening to an amazing restaurant with some of the best panna cotta you’ll ever eat.
Twin Beaks Food
Twin Beaks Food had their pop-up launch event last weekend and we can’t wait to see what they have in store for us next. These guys are making tasty burgers with a French twist. We’re talking duck confit paired with your fave cheeses, relishes, truffle, and honey, all served in a brioche bun.
Papa B’s Tortas
Papa B’s Tortas are rolling around Perth cooking up Mexican street food just the way you like it. Our pick is for the Emperor Ceviche which is served in a real coconut.
Henry On Eighth
After much anticipation from the Maylands locals, it seems Henry on Eighth has finally opened! This little gem is a European style cafe and bar with great coffee and good drinks.
The Fish Boss
Perth, we’re getting a fish and chips food truck thanks to The Fish Boss! These guys know good seafood and will be serving only the very best of the best to bring you the tastiest fish and chips you’ll get your hands on.
Slurp Soup & Salad Bar
Slurp has been meeting all the breakfast and lunch time needs of the city workers down the west end of the city for a little while now with their smoothie bowls and soups. For those of you who can’t make it to Cloisters Arcade on the regs, your prayers have been answered. Smoothie bowls and soup are coming to enex!
A brand spankin' new Northbridge bistro—Arthouse—is opening this month and we couldn't be more excited! John Parker—of The Standard, Halford Bar and Saint Larry Cafe fame—is behind the new cafe/restaurant which will be located within the Art Gallery of WA and we have no doubt it's going to be just as popular as it's sister venues.
It turns out mead is going to be the next big drink and Erosion Meadery is kicking things off in Perth! If you love wine and you love honey, then you’re going to be all about mead.
The clever kids behind No Mafia in Northbridge are taking on Balthazar and we’re expecting great things! After a few renovations, Balthazar will be reopening on June 8 with a killer menu and a huge wine list which we can’t wait to check out.
Mister Gill’s Fish And Chip Shop
We’ve got a feeling this ain’t going to be your average fish and chip shop. If you know Subiaco bar Juanita’s you’ll be very excited to hear that owner Murray Gill is opening a fish and chip shop just down the street which will be offering beautifully cooked seafood and wine, plus a few cocktails for good measure.
All of that goodness and we’re still eagerly awaiting Hamptons, Rise Pizzeria, Meat Candy, Sweetwater Rooftop Bar, Mackdaddy’s, Slate Cafe, Plymptons Coffee and Enrique’s Mustachio Academy. Looks like winter is going to be busy this year!
