Pinch and a punch, first day of the month—October is here already and we have some awesome ways for you to celebrate its arrival this weekend in Perth.

First and foremost, the footy grand final is this Saturday. Whether you love it or hate it we think it’s the perfect excuse to enjoy a hot dog or pie! If you’re feeling a bit over the footy there are also events for funny people, stylish people, arty people, doggy people, bendy people and loved-up people.

Laugh your way into the weekend at Stand Up For Comedy hosted by Perth funny Man Joel Creasey. The event, which marks the opening of Mental Health Week 2015, will feature Aussie comedians Andrew Horabin, Ciaran Lyons, Ivan Aristeguieta, Janelle Koenig, Hayden Stevens and Sami Shah.

Get your art on this Friday at Heathcote Select in Applecross. Featuring work from artists like Anna Louise Richardson, Jarrad Martyn and Mark Tweedie, Heathcote Select has been carefully curated by Jana Braddock. The exhibition will run until 2 November at Heathcote Museum & Gallery.

If you like Fremantle, food and wine you'll want to head down to Ginger Morris at some point in the next three weeks to catch the Food + Wine Pop up. The pop up, run by Melbourne's Kate Christensen (sommelier) and Mal Meiers (chef), will be open Wednesday to Saturday out the back of Ginger Morris, and will feature local food, wine and organic produce. Quick! Book a table before you miss out!

Whether you’re a footy fan or not, there will be no escaping AFL Grand Final shenanigans this Saturday seeing as West Coast made the cut. We’ve put together a list of which pubs are hosting the best Grand Final parties, check it out!

Saturday is your last chance to get down to Claremont Showgrounds for the Perth Royal Show. While it might be a little daggy, it’s still fun to get in on the action. If you’re not too keen on paying exorbitant prices for second-rate rides and show bags, our tip would be to get down to the Dairy Pavilion for some food tasting action.

Make the most of the footy-fan baron city streets this Saturday and head out on a chocolate-filled adventure with Foodi tours. Along with learning about the beautiful cacao bean, you’ll get plenty of chances to sample goodies from chocolatiers around town. Grab some discounted chocolate-treats to enjoy at home, you’ll deserve it after all the walking.

Fashion Week got you considering a career change? The Australian Style Institute have come to your rescue with their Become A Stylist workshop taking place at The Cottesloe Beach Hotel this Saturday and Sunday. Led by one of Australia’s leading stylists, Lauren Di Bartolo, the workshop will show you what it takes to become a fashion stylist and be successful in doing so.

Bring your furry friend along to the Beaufort Street Markets this Sunday for Dogtober. See if your pooch has what it takes to win the title of Most Beautiful Beaufort Bitch or Most Dapper Beaufort Dog. The usual stalls and artists will have their wares on show and there will also be a few extra dog-friendly exhibitors including a pet photographer and mobile dog wash. Just rufferly!

If wedding bells are in your future you are going to want to get down to the First Comes Love wedding fair at MosArts in Mosman Park this Sunday. With your ticket you’ll get a tote bag, access to more than 60 wedding vendors, fashion parades and live music. Get there early and score a free copy of White magazine or arrive late for a free sundowner with live music from Blow the House Down.

Get downward to tunes from Leon, Aretha and Ray this Sunday at The Raw Kitchen in Freo. The soulful class will have you feeling revived and ready to charge into a more meaningful week. Stick around after class for some soul food!
