5 Awesome Things To Do In Sydney This Week

By Holly Kingston
6th Aug 2018

Food and booze comes first and foremost this week and LBH, what’s new? Glad you asked. We’re talking Middle Eastern inspired yum cha, spirits masterclasses and we’ll certainly be hitting up the DF (delish flavours… duh) at Chin Chin’s Curry Club.

This week’s hot tip from TUL: elasticised pants. If you weren’t a jeggings person, you will be now. Scroll away legends. Here are 5 awesome things to get around in Sydney this week.

Monday 6 August

Yes, Mondays suck but we’re urging you to keep calm and curry on at Chin Chin this week. These legends are launching the Chin Chin Curry Club, so you and the squad are invited for a night of winter warming deliciousness feat. all your curry needs. We’re talking chicken wings, beef short rib red curry and penang curry with rotisserie duck. Ofc, there’s roti, rice and an ice-cold Stone and Wood to really spice things up. This may just be the best thing since S Club. Book your seat, here
When: Monday 6 August, 6pm
Where: Chin Chin, Surry Hills
Cost: $49.50 per person

Tuesday 7 August

We strongly advise you slip into those stretchy pants and get around the ridonkulous new Middle Eastern yum cha menu at Thievery. Think baba ganoush dumplings, lamb kafta pancakes and twice cooked duck with carob and ginger caramel. For that sweet as finish, go the mango pancake ice cream sandwich. Booze-wise we’re talking tea cocktails and their speciality baklava inspired concoction with bourbon and amaretto #babygotbak-lava. If you haven’t gathered already, this is kind of a big deal so get in there early and book here

When: Tuesday 7 August – Saturday 1 September (yum cha menu available Tuesday – Saturday and on Saturday’s for brunch)
Where: Thievery, Glebe

We’re all about celebrating special occasions, you know, like Tuesday. There’s a four-course wine-paired dinner coming to Winston Hills on Tuesday and we believe you should treat yo’self. The Barossa’s Hentley Farm Wines has teamed up with The Winston Hotel and they’ve got all your vino needs covered. Menu-wise we’re talking Peking duck and pork san choy bau, pan-seared lamb with wild mushroom and leek risotto and soft-centred chocolate pudding. Bookings are essential, and you can do it here.

When: Tuesday 7 August, 6:45pm
Where: The Winston Hotel, Winston Hills
Cost: $75 per person

Wednesday 8 August

You’re not going to want to brush this one off. It’s time to grab the squad and create your very own masterpiece over your fave tipple at Arthouse Hotel. This week’s theme is ‘Blossom Reflections’ and LBH, a cocktail and some delish nibbles from the bar are sure to get those creative juices flowing. For more deets, head right over here.

When: Wednesday 8 August, 7pm
Where: The Arthouse Hotel, Sydney CBD
Cost: $49 per person

When there are spirits and tasty Roman canapes involved, you don’t have to ask us twice. La Rosa, our fave osteria and wine bar at the Strand has teamed up with Enoteca Sileno aka the Gods of imported premium Italian spirits. This obvs means it would be rude to pass on their wisdom through a masterclass and sampling sesh. They’ll be ‘teaching’ y’all about an array of boutique Italian spirits, feat. Blood Orange Liqueur from Sicily and Limoncello from Sardinia. Spots are limited though so get booking over here.

When: Wednesday 8 August, 6pm
Where: La Rosa at the Strand, Sydney CBD
Cost: $35 per person
