Cho Cho San Opens In Potts Point

From the boys that brought us Sydney stalwart, The Apollo, comes their latest joint venture, Cho Cho San on Macleay Street, Potts Point.

An interpretation of Tokyo's izakaya, restaurateurs, Sam Christie and Jonathan Bathelmess wanted to bring some of the 'big-city buzz and excitement of Tokyo back to Sydney'. Cho Cho San will focus on reinterpreting the rich heritage of Japanese food, in a way that's modern and sophisticated.

Cho Cho San Head Chef, Nicholas Wong (ex-Kylie Kwong, Rockpool, Bodega, and Ester) is taking the reins in the kitchen, bringing diners a unique experience through his creative approach, utilising hibachi grilling and steaming techniques. We have our eyes on The Petuna Ocean Trout and the king prawns, for starters!

The Cho Cho San drinks menu is inventive and reflects Christie's experience matching wines with their Asian food counterparts (he was once the sommelier at Tetsuya's, so he knows what he's doing). Offerings include sake, shochu, whiskey, beer, and wine, as well as a punchy, seasonal cocktail list.

Cho Cho San designer, George Livissianis (who's portfolio spans The Apollo, Longrain, Café Paci, and Jac+Jack) has once again joined the team to create a beautiful, minimalistic space, which draws on Japanese tradition.

Cho Cho San is located at 73 Macleay Street Potts Point, just down the road from The Apollo.

Look out for our Cho Cho San verdict, coming soon!
