Do whatever you have to. Buy, beg, borrow, steal (don’t actually steal). Because Harry Potter & The Cursed Child is officially coming to Melbourne. Daniel Andrews himself (wearing a Gryffindor scarf, no less) dropped the bombshell while you were sleeping.
Until now, the Cursed Child has been playing exclusively in London and New York, with ticket wait lists so long they've become almost metaphysical. Until now your best chance was to put your name down and hope your grandchildren would one day get the ticket.
Here’s what you need to know. The play is coming to Australia in 2019. Exact dates and tickets are still TBC, but you can expect regular updates from us over the coming months. The play is billed as the the eighth story in the Harry Potter series and the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage.
Producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender said, ‘When we embarked on this journey, it was an objective to ensure we could get the production to Australia as soon as logistically possible. You can’t ever assume a new play is going to have a further life, but we knew that if Harry Potter and the Cursed Child did have a life beyond London and Broadway, that the next stop would be here.”
