Sucker For The Ethical-Fashion Life? This New Mega-Market Is For You

Listen up folks, there is a new shopping destination taking over Petersham so get pumped for some serious retail therapy at The Slow Fashion Market.

This guy is more than just your average hustle-for-the-bargain affair though. Think racks, upon racks of sustainable, non-toxic materials all sourced from retailers that either make the fashion themselves or pay their workers fair wages. Yep, this retail-therapy day will harness your good ol’ Samaritan side too.

The Slow Fashion Market is the beautiful brainchild of the crew behind Round She Goes and the Makers and Shakers Market which basically means it’ll be epic (while also raising awareness about the impact of fast-fashion). ‘Fast fashion’ refers to the clothes that are quickly-produced, cheaply-sold, and worn only a couple of times before being thrown away. FYI, this is the gear that is contributing to killing the environment (up to 85 per cent of new textiles we purchase are going to landfill).

Keep an eye out for The Road which has an awesome line of organic basics for men and women, the beautiful French linen pieces from Olea and Otto and Newtown’s Madge Goods will be selling its hand-printed one-of-a-kind womenswear pieces. So, in the words of Regina George, get in loser, we’re going shopping.

The fashion market will be showcasing forty independent brands and designers who are selling women’s, men’s and children’s apparel. There will also be lotsa’ amazing food and specialty coffee so you can peruse the stalls with a latte in hand.

We can’t think of a better way to slooow it down into weekend mode, so get around this epic celebration of oh-so-fab clothing.
