A Giant Inflatable Maze Is Blowing Up On The Gold Coast

Architects of Air are known for their mazes, or luminaria, which are essentially inflatable sculptures, built with tunnels and passages that visitors can explore, that feature light and sound effects. One first time visitor even described the structure as ‘somewhere between a womb and a cathedral’; so naturally our curiosity hit a fever pitch.

Thankfully we don’t need to fly to one of the 40 countries the luminaria have visited to experience the childish wonder of their interactive labyrinth because, as part of the gigantic arts festival coming to the Gold Coast, this installation is coming to help offset the competitive aggression of the Commonwealth Games. This particular maze is called the Arboria, and has been designed to emulate a forest. Nawww.

Expect dazzling light displays, leaf patterns, super modern tree-like structures, and recordings from the Mindo cloud forest in Ecuador, all blended into a psychedelic dream that will set you frolicking like a wee sylvan.
