Ahh, Easter. A short period in the time continuum where all bets are off. Society scoots off that ‘eat well, live well’ soap box, Instagram swaps #fitspo for #letitallgo, it’s socially acceptable to slather an entire block of butter on a hot cross bun, and a time where eating your weight in chocolate-covered anything is actively encouraged.
So, in ode to our favourite pastime, aka overeating, some genius has taken our penchant for face-stuffing and invented probably the best eating competition, ever. Enter, ‘Buns of Steel’; Brisbane’s first ever hot cross bun-eating competition!
The rules are simple. Eat as many HCBs as you can in 2 minutes, and the winner gets $1,000 cash! Simple. Bun eating heats kick off from 8:30am, so skip the brekky roll and come hungry.
Where is this glorious event that represents the true meaning of Easter long weekend occurring? At our beloved Carseldine Markets, that’s where.
What’s more, if you’re not up for eating your weight in HCBs, don’t sweat it, the crew at Carseldine are completely transforming their market day into a HCB appreciation zone. Gorge on all the Easter treats and freshly made HCBs, and take a walk down ‘Bun Alley’, where all your fave Brisbane bakeries will be popping up.
Featuring the likes of Brisbane legends, Cake & Bake (Jocelyn Hancock herself will be on the tools baking up a storm!), Nodo, Banneton, Sol Breads, Flour & Cocolate plus loads more, this is the only place to be this Easter long weekend in Brisbane.
