We’re constantly shook at how cool lil ol’ Brisbane continues to get. It’s come a long way since back in the day and the newest hotspot for all things food, drinks, entertainment and lifestyle—if a complete redevelopment of one of our fave places counts as “new”—is taking things next level. We’re talking about Brisbane Showgrounds, of course. Not just an opportunity to stuff yourself silly, it's also an opportunity to live the metropolitan Brissie lifestyle you always knew you were born to do.
Otherwise known as Brisbane’s newest foodie destination, King Street (which runs through the heart of Brisbane Showgrounds) is jam-packed with every delicious thing you can dream of. Think drool-worthy Chinese at Fat Dumpling, fresh Italian flavours at Il Verde and the oh-so-famous Butterbing cookie sandwiches from Melbourne at The Emporium Barber. Sushi & Nori, Banoi, The Lamb Shop, Super Combo and the brand-spankin' new food truck heaven, Welcome To Bowen Hills, have also set up camp, as well as the much-loved French bistro Montrachet (and let's not forget pastry paradise Montrachet Boulangerie).
Add up to 30 more cafes, bars, bistros, health, fitness, childcare and a European-style fresh food grocer with a live seafood market, plus more retailers than you'll know what to do with—and you’ve got yourself a hub of deliciousness that’s growing by the day. Did we mention there’s going to be regular pop-ups and foodie events, too?
King Street’s new vibe isn’t only about food—it’s shaping up to be one of the trendiest neighbourhoods in town. The hair experts at Tigerlamb and jewellery mavens from Artisan have also moved in, and as of November, the area will be home to total #officegoals, 25 King (set to be world’s tallest engineered timber office building–pretty cool).
The best part? You can actually live there. We don’t mean rent, we mean live. The last chance to nab yourself a sweet King Street pad is at the luxe new complex, The Yards. Boasting two towers of private bliss, you’ll have access to a big screen TV, resort-style pool, Masterchef style kitchen, wood-fired pizza oven, teppanyaki grills, open-air cinema, yoga lawns AND workout stations. Even though they're only 1.6km from the CBD, each and every single apartment is super affordable (especially if you jump on the First Home Buyer’s Grant that expires at the end of June). Just sayin’…
Not having to move to the outer ‘burbs just to afford somewhere decent to live? Music to our ears. BRB, just off for a quick chat with our bank manager.
