RSPCA Adoption

Start pestering your landlord for permission to have a pet, because next month could be the time when you finally fill that four-legged hole in your life with a new best friend.

On Saturday 18 January, hundreds of good doggos, cats, puppies and kittens will be taking over the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre for RSPCA Queensland’s sixth annual pop-up adoption drive.

If you’ve been hunting for your furry soulmate for a while, this is your chance to look deep into the eyes of hundreds of puppies and kittens and find the one who tugs on your heartstrings the most. There will also be plenty of grown up animals in need of a new home, so consider choosing a pet who’s already house trained and probably even knows a few tricks.

Now, before you go getting ahead of yourselves, we want you to actually seriously think about this whole pet-owning decision. Because your new four-legged friend is most likely going to be around longer than your current girlfriend/boyfriend (let’s be real), and it’s going to need to be fed, patted and sung to (oh, just us?) every day. You’ll also need to be prepared with a rental agreement stating pets are allowed—hence the need for a long chat with your real estate.

But, if you’ve been toying with the idea of adopting a pet, for like EVER, and realise how awesome it would be to give one of the RSPCA’s many animals currently living in shelters across the state a fur-ever home, this could be your big day. Prices to adopt a new bestie start at $150 for an adult cat, $250 for a dog, $245 for kittens and $499 for puppies. But really, can you put a price on true friendship?
