Crumbed and fried meat is usually a winner in our books—but these Gold Coast pubs and restaurants are doing it reaaallll good.
From chicken to veal and even a little eggplant for the vegos, we’ve tasted some of the best parmigianas on the Gold Coast. Because if you’re going to eat fried meat, it better be damn worth it, yes?
Bam Bam Bakehouse
While we’re not one for playing favourites… screw it, who are we kidding? Bam Bam Bakehouse is da bomb for so many reasons, further verified on the day we first tucked into their traditional-yet-to-die-for chicken parmigiana. Picture a freshly breaded chicken schnittie layered lovingly with Napoli sauce, off-the-bone leg ham, melted mozzarella, and with a crisp side of peppery rocket. Are you drooling yet? Available from a bright-eyed and bushy-tailed 7am (though at that hour, probably better suited to those dusty heads regretting the night before), one of the best parmigianas on the Gold Coast is available alllll day long, now including Thursday through Saturday nights when Bam Bam stays up late for dinner.

MLK Espresso Bar and Café
Chances are, you’re yet to stumble across this artsy treasure on the edge of Broadbeach. Don’t let the name fool you; while breakfast and frothy cups of joe is MLK‘s speciality, they’ve got another trick up their sleeve by the way of a signature MLK Chicken Parmigiana. A wondrously tasty combination of Napoli sauce, parmesan, mozzarella, basil leaves, and accompanied by sweet potato fries; this bad boy is a hot contender among the best parmigianas on the Gold Coast.

Bine Craft Beer Bar
Nobby Beach hotspot, Bine Craft Beer Bar is the undisputed king of mid-week pub grub specials (hello 50-cent chicken wings!). Though, if you’re coming for the saucy, cheesy chicken option, then Thursday’s Parmy and Paddle night has your name all over it. On Thursdays, a tiny 15 bucks will buy you a three-taster craft beer paddle and one of Bine’s famous parmys. Take your pick from traditional, veal, or eggplant for the vegetarians and all served with yummo beer-battered chips and garden salad. All that for practically pocket change.

Traditional pub grub is the order of business at D’Arcy Arms, one of the best Irish pubs on the Gold Coast, and they certainly do a bang-up job of the classics. Wednesdays are parmy nights, where their menu staple, the 300-gram moist-as-hell chicken parmigiana served with chips and salad, goes for a healthy 20 bucks.

Currumbin Vikings Surf Club
We hear ya! With all the enticing new cafés and restaurants popping up like mushrooms of late, who’s got time or dosh to eat at a surf club? That said, supporting the good ol’ surf club should never fall by the wayside, and, fortunately for us, they’re usually a sure bet for a big-as-your-head chicken parmigiana. With its salty surfside possie and corresponding killer views, our go-to is the Currumbin Vikings Surf Club. Their parmy is none too shabby either and tight-arses will love knowing they fly out the door on 2-4-1 Tuesday and Thursday nights.

BMD Northcliffe Surf Club
Let’s be honest, are there two things more fair dinkum Australiana than a chicken parmy and a trusty surf club? As this list wouldn’t be complete without another, the fiercely loyal supporters of BMD Northcliffe SLSC would be first to argue this is one of the best parmigianas on the Gold Coast. So who are we to disagree? Prepare for the meat sweats when you order the crispy-fried and breaded chicken parmy dressed with parmesan, sugo sauce, sliced leg ham, and paired with beer battered fries. Hell to the yes.
Where: 51 Garfield Terrace, Surfers Paradise
As always, the Gemelli brothers have stayed meticulously with tradition serving up this Italian gastronomic classic with eggplant as the hero. We’ve got heart eyes for Gemelli Italian’s seriously flavoursome melanzane parmigiana with grilled aubergine, zesty tomato sauce, fresh buffalo mozzarella, parmesan, and basil. We’re making the bold call that, if you need to go meat-less, this is one of the best parmigianas on the Gold Coast—just like Nonno would make!
