It’s the pop-up we deserve, but also the one we need right now.
Yep, buttery juggernaut Lune Croissanterie is landing in the David Jones Bourke St Foodhall this week, in celebration of Chinese New Year.
But there’s a small catch: they’re only serving the first 88 customers each day (a lucky number in the Chinese calendar, but an unlucky number for whoever’s 89th in line).
Here’s how it’s going to work. Lune has developed three limited-edition ‘cruffins’ for the New Year’s festival: Lychee (piped with Lychee custard and lychee gel, topped with a freeze-dried lychee), Pineapple (feat. pineapple jam and custard, rolled in a shortbread crumb), and Salted Duck Egg (sesame brittle garnished with a salt-cured duck egg). Shotgun the hell out of that lychee thing.
You get two of each flavour in Lune’s Lunar New Year gift box, and there are 88 gift boxes up for grabs each day. There will be queues. There will be tears. It’s gonna be awesome.
