If you’re looking for beach views and Irish brews, The Galway Hooker in Scarborough is the place to be. If it weren’t for the coastal scenery, the legends behind Durty Nelly’s would have you fooled into thinking you were in Ireland. They’ve got a collection of 70 types of Irish whiskey, a cool room entirely dedicated to Guinness (kept two degrees warmer than other alcohol, in case you were wondering) and all of the interior decorations shipped in from Ireland–including The Galway Hooker boat right in the middle of the pub paying homage to its namesake.

When you’re looking for a delicious but nutritious pick me up in the morning, Sammy’s in Mount Hawthorn is the place to go. Sitting pretty in The Mezz, Sammy’s is specialising in, well, sammys. Makes sense.

Sitting right across the road from the loud and colourful Spritz Spizzecheria, La Madonna Nera is offering a more intimate but equally delicious dining experience to the Mount Hawthorn crew. With barely visible signage you'd be forgiven for walking right by this place, but hunt it down and you'll be rewarded with authentic Italian eats and some of the best vino going around. Don't miss the wagyu bresaola or any of the fresh pasta.

Little Loaf Bakery

From the crew behind North Street Store, Little Loaf Bakery in South Fremantle is baking some of the best bread in the southern suburbs. It’s a self-serve concept here, which probably means you’ll walk away with more than intended, but there are no regrets when it comes to baked goods. In the cabinets you’ll find their incredible, award-winning bread as well as pastries, conti rolls and sweet treats. And the brew is pretty legendary too.

After years keeping the Denmark locals and tourists well hydrated, Boston Brewing Co made the move to Victoria Park and thank goodness they did. Open seven days a week, you can get your hands on their full range of beers whenever you please as well as plenty of pub food done right. Think local, seasonal and delicious and you're on the right track.

Brooklyn Donuts in Subiaco is brought to us by the legends at Brooklyn Lounge and it’s as good as you’d expect. The sweet, fried balls of goodness are just as over-the-top as the burgers you all know and love from their Claremont shop. Get them nice and hot, plain or stuffed, cinnamon-dusted or smothered in chocolate sauce. They also do shakes, brioche ice cream sandwiches and more.

Taking up space in an old bank vault below St Georges Terrace, Foxtrot Unicorn is the perfect city hideaway for a few laid-back tipples in dark and moody corners. Once the headquarters for the Western Australian Club, Foxtrot Unicorn is brought to us by Dimitri Rtshiladze (formerly Mechanics Institute), with Tom Kearney behind the bar and Jessica Arnott responsible for the tasty nosh. Speaking of tasty nosh, they’re slinging some very sexy cheese jaffles with “jaffle crack” seasoning, garlic butter and crusted parmesan.

Eugene’s Pizzeria

Eugene’s Pizzeria is a pizza place to rave about on the south side, and the reason is all in the base. They let their dough balls ferment for 72 hours before stretching them into the perfect pizza bases and topping them with only the best local ingredients. Order the Funghi and prepare to have your taste buds explode at first bite. Made with mixed grilled mushrooms, taleggio, mozzarella, fresh thyme and garlic, sprinkled with dried mushroom flakes, you’ll want to polish off the whole pie all on your own. Other standouts include the Pepperoni, Margherita and Potato.

The passionate family serves up a brand new menu of freshly baked pastries, doughnuts and cakes daily to keep us all on our toes, and they stock our favourite Blacklist Coffee alongside a variety of loose leaf teas. We're especially excited about how accommodating Baked in Byford is, with gluten-free, vegan and keto-friendly produce standing proud on the menu that all give the other treats a run for their money.

Toastface Grillah | Wolf Lane

Cult favourite carb eatery, Toastface Grillah, has closed its Grand Lane doors temporarily for renovations, but that means two fantastic things; they’ve opened up another Perth CBD store towards the rear end of Wolf Lane, between Murray and Hay Street, and they’re upgrading their original for all of you who love their array of toasties just as much as us. Serving up the same delicious treats and caffeinated accompaniments in their hidden gem in Wolf Lane, this is not but a meer set-back for those stumped at the corner of Wellington and Barrack Street.

Located inside Scarborough’s Peach Pit Bar, Pit Stop Burgers has nine amazing burgers to choose from. They've got juicy beef and fried chicken, as well as vegan options, and they’re all served with chips, a potato bun and their secret sauce. Whether you’re after something familiar, like a good old cheeseburger, or ready to try something new like the amazing falafel burger, there’s something for everyone. Plus, they’ve got incredible sides. You’ve got to try the mac 'n' cheese bites and the loaded curly fries.

Upperhand Burgers in Swanbourne is taking burgers to the next level. Choose from a variety of burgers and then take it up a notch with one of their extras, such as the loco, which'll add chopped chilli, sriracha, guac and caramelised onions to your already awesome burger. There's also vegan and gluten-free options, so you don't have to worry about missing out. Their sides are just as fantastic, pay special attention to the nacho bacon fries and the tofu nuggets.

Swanbourne has come a long way over the years, and new addition Handy Coffee Co. has been receiving a very warm welcome from the locals. The cafe might be small but the coffee packs a punch, as do the dipped croissants fresh from the cabinet. There’s plenty of alternative milk choices and a few wildcards like the butterfly pea latte.

There are also plenty of sweet treats that are gluten and dairy-free, including a delicious-looking chocolate and date slice.
