It’s the mac daddy of true crime, and it’s coming back to Netflix.
The long-awaited Making A Murderer Part 2 is launching globally (yep, even here) on 19 October. That’s only a few weeks away, guys.
So what do we know so far? Brace for spoilers. Emmy Award-winning creators Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos are back at the helm, following the latest developments in the (now infamous) Steven Avery case.
This second season will focus on the post-conviction process for Avery and his co-defendant Brendan Dassey, plus the emotional toll the whole thing takes on their families.
“Steven and Brendan, their families and their legal and investigative teams have once again graciously granted us access, giving us a window into the complex web of American criminal justice,” said Ricciardi and Demos.
“Building on Part 1, which documented the experience of the accused, in Part 2, we have chronicled the experience of the convicted and imprisoned, two men each serving life sentences for crimes they maintain they did not commit..”
You’ll also get to meet Kathleen Zellner, Avery’s slightly terrifying postconviction lawyer, who apparently holds the records for overturning wrongful convictions in America.
Which way is this thing gonna go? Who the hell knows. Let’s watch and find out. If you need us after 19 October, we’ll be watching this k thanks.
Making A Murderer Part 2 will be released worldwide on Netflix on 19 October.
