Breaking | Bam Bam Bakehouse To Open For Dinner!

By Brooke Darling - 11 May 2016

If you’re anything like us, you’re pretty much a professional bruncher and already have a healthy obsession with Bam Bam Bakehouse.

Those buttery fresh-out-of-the-oven pastries, brekky burgers, the spicy nasi goreng, drool-worthy dessert pots, the leafy outlook, layered décor textures, and recycled wooden tables. Swoon… we could go on.

Serving up some of the best breakfasts on the Gold Coast, Bam Bam Bakehouse has been sufficiently satisfying our cravings between sunrise and somewhere after lunch. So it’s little wonder the team has thrown themselves a new challenge.

We’re beside ourselves with excitement to tell you: Bam Bam Bakehouse is opening for dinner. Boom!

Starting this weekend, they’ll be keeping the bi-fold doors pulled back on Friday and Saturday evenings, taking orders right through until 8:30pm. When the lights dim, the barista station will morph into a cocktail bar serving fun classics like daiquiris, mojitos, margaritas, espresso martinis, as well as lavender-tinted G&Ts featuring local Tumbulgum distillery, Ink Gin. What’s more, all manner of casual new dishes are about to be unleashed.

Spilling the beans just a few days ago, Bam Bam has been teasing about the likes of char-grilled steak, buffalo wings, handmade dumplings, Chinese fried rice, Thai beef salads, their insanely good brisket beef dip, and soon to be your new love, the chicken parmigiana (in case it was never on your radar at 8am), all washed down with an old-school VB tallie or a chilled glass of vino. And you already know the in-house-crafted dessert selection will have your heart skipping a beat or three. There’s even talk of new-age ice cream sundaes crafted by the talented pastry team. Drool.

We love a local success story, and this is one of our faves. Ben and Ursula, the young and savvy restaurateurs behind two of the best cafés on the Gold Coast, put everything on the line when they injected life into a ramshackle Queenslander-style cottage upon opening Paddock Bakery a few years back. Launching their second venture last November—Bam Bam is affectionately named in honour of their young son and his afternoon witching hour—today it looks as though little is stopping these gutsy café trailblazers.

This Friday and Saturday, lunch will be served to 3pm as usual, with a limited menu on offer through until 5pm. Then, it’s all about Bam Bam’s soul-satisfying new dinner menu which can be ordered until 8:30pm.

It always felt a waste that Bam Bam’s lust-worthy interior plunged into darkness after the late-lunching crowds had dispersed. So we can’t hardly wait to see one of the Gold Coast’s most beautiful cafés come to life on dusk, all moody like with flickering candles, lanterns, and down lights. See you for a few G&Ts soon guys!

When: Friday and Saturday nights ‘til 8:30pm
Where: 2519 Gold Coast Highway, Mermaid Beach
