Exciting news, guys… here’s another sign that our humble home is moving on up in the world with the announcement we’re getting a new signature food and wine festival!
Lighting up Friday and Saturday nights throughout June, this inaugural event is a labour of love by one of the newest foodie and event-space powerhouses on the Gold Coast, NightQuarter night markets. The forward-thinking team at NightQuarter have some exciting plans in the works for their month-long festival with big ambitions to create a much larger, inclusive event in the years ahead that’ll incorporate additional venues across the GC.
But for now, the 2016 Gold Coast Food and Wine Festival will utilise the versatile spaces within NightQuarter, including The Gallery, the centre’s spunky new VIP function rooms perched above their undercover music venue, The Paddock.
Cards already on the table include a massive opening night soirée, a progressive degustation dinner, cooking demos, wine and craft beer appreciation masterclasses, interactive food workshops (um, you can make gourmet caramel candy apples!), cocktail-making masterclasses, America vs. Australia barbecue wars, a VIP wine lounge, and photography contests, as well as one last major event that’s yet to be announced.
Various events are both free and ticketed, so jump over to the website for a full listing of dates and what’s filling out the schedule, as well as to purchase tickets. A dedicated festival hub will be created to house events, though with the festival held in conjunction with NightQuarter’s regular night market, the atmosphere is guaranteed to be electric.
In our opinion, the highlight event will be June 10’s provenance progressive degustation dinner, that’s designed to shine a light on the talented Gold Coast chefs living right here on our doorstep. And with only 120 tickets available, it’s certain to sell out quickly! No need to fret if the degustation is out of your budget, ‘cause we reckon you’ll love the Dessert Safari, where a $20 ticket will solve a very real problem of too much choice, by allowing you to try five different dessert stalls scattered around the night markets. Neat, huh?
If you’re meekly raising your hand to admit you’ve STILL not been to NightQuarter (shame on you!) this, folks, will be one event totally worth jumping in the car for. Better yet, make it an Uber… after all, it’s a wine festival too, duh!
Mark Friday and Saturday nights falling between June 3—25 on your calendar, ‘cause the Gold Coast Food and Wine Festival is shaping up to be one event you don’t want to miss.
