Located in the CBD, Korean restaurant Guhng spans over an impressive four levels, with each level offering a unique setting and atmosphere. The lower ground level is perfect if you're in for a night of a warm kimchi stew and bibimbap with friends or family. Moving up to ground floor, we have the more refined and elegant dining area which screams 'perfect date destination'. If you know anything about burgers (and we can assure you that, here at The Urban List, we know just about everything about burgers), you'll have heard the name Burgerlove (formerly Cafe 51) mentioned with great reverence. It's a well known fact that Melbourne holds the largest Greek population in the world outside of Greece—and yet, I spend a lot of time wondering where I can get my Greek food fix at anywhere other than George Calombaris-run joints.
Mister and Miss
Mister and Miss is truly a match made in Mont Albert heaven. This massive contemporary warehouse-style cafe is constantly busy keeping local’s tummies and Instagrams very satisfied. All our party favourites are on the list: crushed avo, zucchini and corn fritters, buttermilk pancakes, soft shell crab burger (you know the drill).
Host
A newcomer to Brunswick's dining scene, Host is a beautiful, petite restaurant serving the best in local cuisine, hidden in a northside warehouse. Owned by Nedim and Majda Rahmanovic, previously of North Melbourne’s Twenty & Six Espresso café, the restaurant serves small sharing plates and larger dishes for hungrier diners, accompanied by an abbreviated wine list that's pretty much a 'best of' when it comes to more obscure tipples.
Little Rogue
This Melbourne café has gone a little rogue. There’s no smashed avocado, poached eggs or brunch menu in sight—but that doesn’t stop this pint-sized café from attracting a steady stream of caffeine-deprived visitors.
Rufus
The proliferation of secret laneway bars behind non-descript doors in Melbourne is the stuff of legend—and now we have had yet another one gifted to us in the form of off-Greville cocktail, whiskey and cigar bar, Rufus. Melbourne, you're too good to us.
