Golden Lotus
Let’s face it, giant bowls of vegan pho and tofu stir-fries from Golden Lotus in Sydney’s Newtown are all that we crave when it’s cold out, or when we just need a warm hug from the inside. You better get in early, because Golden Lotus is often packed out, which is to be expected when vegetarian fried dumplings and vegan fish (whaaaaat!) is on the menu.

The Dessert Kitchen
If you’re a fan of sweet (and downright strange) desserts, Dessert Kitchen is about to become your go-to. We mean it when we say they have everything your sweet tooth could possible want. There are classic parfaits filled with cocoa crisps, crushed Oreo and chocolate pearls, to pistachio crust and corn flakes; and sundaes that are a little more out there. Exhibit A is the dancing queen, with a base of milk pudding layered with mini rice balls and red beans, topped with green tea ice cream.

Johnny Fontane’s
Finally, Chicago deep dish has landed in Sydney. Between us, we couldn’t be more excited that we only have to travel to Darlinghurst for a sweet, cheesy slice of pie. Executive Chef Cy Gwynne (formerly of Longrain and Café Sydney) is backing up the deep dish with pasta, antipasto, arancini balls, cannoli and gelato. So yeah, this feast will be epic!
Belly Bao
After a few years on the Sydney food market scene, Belly Bao settled into a permanent home at Goodgod Small Club, feeding hungry drinkers and trivia enthusiasts alike. But just like that, they've moved onto bigger and better things, opening a standalone store smack bang in the centre of King Street.
The Farm Wholefoods
The Farm Wholefoods (aka one of our fave health spots in Sydney) has #blessed us with a third location (hint, hint Cammeray) and we couldn’t be more excited!

Hawker
If you’re a fellow laksa-lover (aren’t we all?) then listen up because Hawker has arrived in CBD and it's going to be the talk of the town. From the creators of Mamak (one of our faves), this Chinese-Malay foodie mecca is well worth the hype and one queue we won't say no to.
Macelleria

Nutie Donuts
Nutie Donuts have been making the rounds on the farmers market and food truck festival scene for a while in Sydney and now, Balmain locals (and anyone that will travel for doughnuts—all of you) will have a brick and mortar store to visit daily. The best part is that Nutie bakes with only the highest quality gluten free ingredients and they also have dairy free and vegan options, so anyone with intolerances will leave, full, happy and on an extreme sugar high.

NOLA Smokehouse & Bar
Inspired by the New Orleans, NOLA Smokehouse & Bar serves top-cut meats cooked to perfection with southern-style roasting. All your beer dreams are about to come true thanks to the arrival of Endeavour Tap Rooms at The Rocks.
Mr.
The Balmain café scene just got a whole lot cooler, with it’s newest addition to Darling Street—Mr. and it doesn’t disappoint. They’ll appease your inner coffee-craving monster (hey, no judgement) with Will & Co. coffee beans that are roasted on-site, and they’ve got a short but sweet menu to match. Mr. also serves up their refreshing alcoholic beverages from 10am, if you’re after a different kind of pick-me-up with your brekky (again, no judgement).
Silly Tart Kitchen
This cute little kitchen brings homemade country-style dishes to the city, with a modern twist on flavour combinations. Their avocado definitely isn’t boring, topped with pickled ginger, honey and toasted sesame, plus their piklets, which are paired with orange syrup, toasted coconut, Turkish delight, candied ginger and natural yoghurt. See, we said they were twisting things up.

Sydney knows good Italian, which is why we’re beyond excited about the opening of Sotto Sopra at Palm Beach.

Vincent Diner
Hanging out at the base of the Blue Mountains in Glenbrook is Vincent Diner, the local go-to for a killer brunch with your BFFs, a chilled out date night or dinner with, well, your BBFs. The family-run business serves up the best poached eggs in town (honestly) with the obligatory avo on sourdough. Because would it even be brunch without it? No, the answer is no.
Roomie Cafe
Waverley Street in Bondi Junction just got a whole lot cooler with the arrival of Roomie Café.
The Rum Diaries
A staple on Bondi Road, The Rum Diaries has recently come back to the Eastside scene, and they’ve brought their 90-strong rum list with them. This is the place to head for a quiet drink with your mates, a not-so-quiet drinks with your mates and a modern Australian-style dinner that showcases the best Australian produce on offer.
Fei Jai Next Door
Dumplings are good. But dumplings served with cocktails are even better (let’s be real), which is why Fei Jai Next Door is putting Cantonese cuisine on the map. Located in Potts Point, this little spot is ideal for letting the good times (spring) roll.
Bondi Wash
With more to like than just their good looks (and smells), Bondi Wash will have you smelling and feeling great with their non-toxic, biodegradable and plant-based products. We love to support local, and so do these guys, using ingredients sourced from the best Australian suppliers (Tasmanian pepper, Sydney peppermint and lemon tea tree all feature). Their home, body, lifestyle and dog ranges (yes, pups are included), mean there’s something for everyone and every occasion. Is there anything these guys haven't got right? We don't think so.
Yellow Stage
Eastwood just scored a brand new dessert bar and literally, their cuter-than-cute cloud shaped white chocolate mousse cake is almost too much to handle. Everything has been designed to be completely ‘grammable (as you may have gathered from the cutie we mentioned earlier), but their glass cabinet is filled with desserts that combine delicious classics like a humble layer cake with matcha, or the mousse cake (known as the Yellow Stage), which is filled with pineapple and yuzu.
Kindred
Comfort food is constantly giving us life and we literally cannot think of a better way to spend a Friday night (any night, TBH) than with an enormous bowl of handmade bucatini topped with generous helpings of melt-in-your-mouth pork and just the right amount of rich tomato sauce with a hint of chilli. That’s exactly what you can expect from Kindred, the pasta mecca that’s tucked inside a corner terrace in Darlington.

Fonzarelli’s
We’re suckers for a hidden bar, mainly because we really like to be the first ones to know everything about Sydney, and Fonz-themed bar, Fonzarellis is exactly that. It’s the kind of that that you’ve probably walked past every single day while trudging up Foveaux Street on your way to work. Keep an eye out for the neon blue sign next time you walk by and you’ll wonder how you’ve missed it so many times (probably because you’ve been too busy running for the train).
Yakitori Jin
Aaaaa-asahi… aka a sigh of relief in knowing that we may have just uncovered the most authentic yakitori to have ever hit town. Uncle Tetsu’s Angel Garden
Uncle Tetsu’s Angel Garden is the newest dessert café to set up camp in Sydney and yes, there will be delicious, Japanese-style cheesecake. Well, now there’s a new kid in town and here, you’ll be able to settle in with your dessert and stay a little while. It's conveniently located downstairs from the original shop on George street, so run—don't walk—here.
4 Pines Public House Newport
With the weather coming in hot (classic Sydney), your next Sunday session needs to happen at the 4 Pines Public House Newport. The 4 Pines team introduce three of their newest flavours at this beachside venue: Vlad, King Dong and Jean Claude Van Lambic. All of the new flavours will sit alongside their signature craft beer. For those who are a little less keen on beer, don’t worry they have something for you too, with a selection of cocktails and ciders on the menu as well. A good beer can be judged in one delicious sip—but it’s better to have the whole thing, just to be sure.

Kitchen By Mike
Kitchen by Mike is finally returning to Sydney and single-handedly making sure that we no longer have to order terrible, overpriced food at the airport. Set to launch in February 2017, Kitchen by Mike will be serving up healthy, hearty and delicious food and as you’d expect from Mike, the menu will be changing constantly according to what’s in season. If you’re one of those people who always plans to pack food for a flight and then never does (guilty), then you’re in luck, because you’ll also be able to pick up a made to order, packed lunch to go.

The Indigo Project
Some may argue that adulting is managing to make it through an entire day without a disco nap, but not the guys over at The Indigo Project. They believe that real adulting is managing to fit a nap in, while still achieving all you need to in the day. So what is a naptime class, we hear you ask? Well, you’ll start off with a calming meditation, before nodding off for 20-30 minutes, because apparently that is the optimal time to nod off in the middle of the day.

Inspired by iconic films like the Grand Budapest Hotel, this artsy cocktail bar is the newest recruit to Darlinghurst’s already booming bar scene.
