Editor's note, Devon cafe is now closed permanently.
Sydney’s iconic Devon café has finally made the leap interstate, opening up its first ever Queensland store in Westfield Garden City.
A staple on the Sydney café scene for nearly a decade, Devon quickly gained a loyal following with its quirky (but in no way gimmicky) menu and elegant décor, and still to this day has lines out the door thanks to the team’s laser focus on sourcing local produce and championing creativity.
The fourth venue for the team, Devon Garden City brings all the classic dishes its known for to Brisbane—with a few QLD quirks, naturally.
Speaking of the Brisbane venture, Executive Chef Zacharay Tan is keen showcase its unique offering, saying, “…we’re working on several exclusive dishes which will only be available at Devon Garden City. I’m thinking house-made banana bread with macadamia nuts and local grown bananas, crispy skin flounder, sichimi togarashi, ponzu and daikon, and grilled Hervey Bay scallops, with kombu butter, potatoes and caviar.”
Speaking of the classics, you’ll still be able to get your hands on staples like their matcha latte, brioche French toast, the Croissant St Denis, and their famous DD Special (soft serve with hot chips) all without having to pay for a return flight to Sydney.
Operating as a café by day, by night Devon is mixing it up and serving up some impressive dinner fare; think squid ink angel hair pasta with mussels, crab and mentaiko cream sauce, wagyu tenderloin with a cep puree and sautéed mushrooms.
Devon overlooks the stunning outdoor dining square in Garden City, featuring large bi-fold windows that pull back to allow in the breeze—and that view.
Devon is open seven days, Mon-Tues 7am-4pm, Wed-Fri 8am-10pm, Sat 8am-10pm, Sun 8am-4pm.
