An Aperol Spritz Street Party Is Going Off In Bowen Hills This Weekend

Stick your head outside and you’ll notice that the weather has taken a welcome turn for the sunnier. On closer scrutiny, you’ll note that the darling buds shaketh on the vine, and the monochromatic nemeses of cyclists have begun their swooping offensive. Springtime is upon us in the climactic sense, and to celebrate, Welcome to Bowen Hills is cracking bottle on the mating season with a Spring Spritz Party.

Kicking off at 11am on September 1, the Spritz Party will ring in the calendrical dawn of spring with an Italophillic jamboree featuring apricot tides of refreshing Aperol, an Italian food takeover, and an accordion player to pump up the jam. (I’d like to take this opportunity to unilaterally declare Aperol spritzes as the official tipples of spring).

Expect carbs and charcuterie delights from the Gasworks faves at Salt Meats Cheese, as well as authentic Italian food trundling in from Ciccio’s and Porky’s Porchetta, and a small fleet of local food trucks including Nonna’s Masseria, La Cucina Mobile, the Abbiocco Food Truck, and even Mr Burger’s flaming grill. The gelato legends from La Macelleria will also be there serving scoops, as will Gerbino’s Pasticerria with their sweet and buttery treats.

Come down and get around it unless you can think of a better way to fade out winter than with spritzes and cannoli.
