Whether you’re travelling from interstate, overseas for business or simply craving a staycation, Southport is the perfect spot to set up base for a Gold Coast getaway. It’s close to the seaside, the nightlife of Surfers Paradise and super central, with the Light Rail running right through it. With cool bars, restaurants, parks and shops all within walking distance, there’s no reason to leave.

Here are the best places to stay in Southport.

Meriton Suites

If you’re the kind of person that likes to bliss out in your suite and not leave your lush digs, then this is the place for you. At 55 levels high, the Meriton is Southport’s tallest building and boasts a cool five stars. All 208 suites are positioned above level 25, meaning each guest is treated to magnificent views of the stunning hinterland and glistening scenes of pristine surf beaches from the Pacific Ocean coastline. With large open living spaces, European appliances fitted into a fully-equipped gourmet kitchen, full-sized bathrooms, and an internal laundry, you’ll never want to leave. Except to enjoy the stunning pool and sundeck that is. And if you are feeling adventurous the Gold Coast Light Rail is just two minutes’ walk away with direct lines to Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach.

Brighton Shores

With the Light Rail out the front and the stunning Broadwater as a backdrop, these self-contained apartments are an excellent and affordable option for a fun mini break. Brighton Shores features oversize, one, two and three-bedroom apartments with spacious living areas, kitchen and laundry facilities. There’s also an outdoor swimming pool and BBQ area, indoor heated lap pool, sauna, spa and billiard room. If you decide to leave the tropical oasis, shopping heaven awaits just five minutes away at Marina Mirage in Main Beach, as well as amazing restaurants and bars in nearby Surfers Paradise. Looking for one the best places to stay in Southporth? You've found it.

Broadwater Tourist Park

Want to escape the city and enjoy our stunning backyard? Then the Broadwater Tourist Park is where you’ll want to be, boasting one of the best locations on the Gold Coast. Overlooking the stunning Broadwater and adjacent to the iconic Broadwater Parklands, the park is centrally located in Southport, and within easy reach of all theme parks and many other famous Gold Coast attractions. The park has a wide range of cheap accommodation options for those on a budget, including 28 waterfront, water view, pool view and garden villas. The park also has its own boat ramp for easy access to the Broadwater, two large pools, a tennis court, recreation room, camp kitchen and BBQ areas. Family holiday = sorted.

Mantra At Sharks

Located in the heart of the CBD, just a short walk from Griffith University Gold Coast University Hospital and beautiful Broadwater Parklands, Mantra At Sharks is an ultra-modern, 120 room hotel that kicks goals for families and high fliers alike. There’s a mix of modern studios and suites with stylish décor and state-of-the-art appliances. But our favourite part of Mantra? The stunning rooftop bar, The Aviary. With sweeping views of the city they’re known for pumping out decadent cocktails, authentic Italian pizzas and sharing tapas style dishes. Then all you have to do is roll downstairs to your bed. That’s a win in our eyes.
