Some things just go together, like PB and jelly, and Posh and Becks, so this year we’ve teamed up with MINI to bring you, our discerning readers and drivers, our fortnightly MINI Fave 5 series: The must-try guide to Sydney, celebrating the launch of the new MINI 5-door hatch!

ICYMI, summer is here and we’ve been banging on about it because we’re just so excited about the whole thing. So, in light of the sunshine, warmer days and HOLIDAYS (!!!), we’ve put together a list of our favourite beaches on the Central Coast. Y’know, just in case you were planning on doing a little roadtrip up north.

Avoca Beach

Well this is a beautiful part of the world. Avoca Beach is an idyllic destination for the discerning Sydneysider that’s far enough to be classified as roadtrip-worthy but close enough if you’ve only got one day to spare. There are a few great cafes just near the beach and the markets on Sundays are a lot of fun too. For those a bit wary of the big blue, you needn’t be left at home this time as there’s an ocean rock pool next to the Surf Life Saving Club for you to wade in.

Frazer Park

Just past the Entrance lies our very own surfer’s paradise. Closely connected to a small campground, you can wake up in your Combie to the sound of waves breaking and a mighty beaut view. And for those who really want to get in touch with nature, famous nudist beach, Birdie Beach, is nearby. Can you tell that we’re blushing already?

Spoon Bay

Catching the sunrise at Spoon Bay is right up there when it comes to breathtaking moments. A little more unknown than its beachy cousin, Forresters, this pristine beach is perfect for the whole family to splish and splash about, plus you can snorkel around the rocks. And just ten minutes away from Terrigal Beach (and with an amazing panoramic view of said beach), you won’t even have to go out of your way to visit.

Little Beach

A private cove inside of Bouddi National Park (it’s close to Killcare Beach), Little Beach’s morning swell makes this an ideal hotspot for surfers. After your refreshing dip, bring your camera and take the 20 minute walk down to the beautiful isolated bay hidden nearby. There’s also a really small camping area—you’ll need to book in advance—so you can sip you morning cuppa in peace. Ahhhh the serenity.

Macmaster’s Beach

Home to an epic ocean pool, Macaster’s stretches along a pretty decent amount of coastline which means plenty of sand for you to use to try to get that perfect sandy bikini bum shot. Just ten minutes before you hit Killcare Beach, it’s a local favourite that’s perfect for swimming, surfing and fishing. If you’re there on a Wednesday morning, lend your ears to the jazz band that plays at the Surf Club Café.

We're thrilled to partner with MINI to bring you our Fave 5 series—our fortnightly guide to the best of the best in Sydney. From food to fashion, Campari to Crossfit, each Fave 5 edition is researched and recommended by The Urban List, and driven by the new MINI 5-Door Hatch—putting the city at your fingertips and giving you the freedom to explore it!
