Dumplings are my kryptonite: I can never stop at just one (dozen... ahem). This is likely to do with the fact I can never choose just one type of dumpling. Should I have the pork and chive pan-fried gyoza? Or should I stick with my ol’ faithful: pork and crab xiao long bao? Ooh, look! There are noodles on the menu… And, so it continues.
Step into any one of the best dumpling restaurants in Brisbane and choosing what to order is likened to a kid in a savoury candy store. With all those juicy little parcels filled with saucy goodness, death by dumplings seems the only option.
So, when Gold Coast success story, Dumpling Republic, opened its doors inside the newly renovated Wintergarden, you could say we were pretty excited. Hell, we were VERY excited! With a reputation for dishing up some of the best dumplings going, Dumpling Republic was a welcome addition to Brisbane’s dumpling scene.
Dumpling Republic make all their dishes fresh to order. We’re talking the dumplings, the noodles, the whole lot. You can even ogle the chefs as they masterfully stuff dumplings and stretch noodles through the glass window that looks over the prep kitchen (not in a creepy way!). And it’s nothing short of wizardry!
With Dumpling Republic’s kitchen under the skilful guidance of internationally renowned dumpling chef Sim Kim Kwee (Google him—he’s famous), you can bet your bottom dollar that these miniature mouthfuls are going to be seriously tasty!
With 18 different variations of dumplings to feast on, Dumpling Republic is the place for fellow dumpling fiends to indulge, and a great spot for an evening catch up with your favourite peeps.
Don’t feel left though out if dumplings aren’t your thing. Dumpling Republic has a great selection of noodle and stir-fry dishes to choose from (the Singaporean chicken in black pepper sauce was seriously tasty), or you can just be extra greedy like us and have it all. #dietstartsjanuaryfirst
We have to hand it to Dumpling Republic. They’re flying the flag for delicious, hand-crafted dishes in the heart of the CBD that won’t cost you a small fortune. And that makes us very happy. Oh go on then, just one more!
