Tucked down an alleyway in Fortitude Valley is new Brisbane restaurant Longtime. Both a late-night drinking destination and Thai eatery, Longtime sits firmly in the chilled middle ground between bar and restaurant, which is exactly where we like them.
The gang behind Longtime have nailed the cheeky South East Asian vibe, with a casual and cool fit out and subtle nods to the er, more playful side of Thai culture (they're giving out Longtime branded ping pong balls as party favours… Naughty!).
If the atmosphere is good, the food is even better. Longtime's team in the kitchen includes the former head chef of coastal Thai wonderland, Spirit House, and a member of the kitchen staff from the Thai royal kitchen.
The menu lends equal weight to bar snacks and heftier dishes, with creative and authentic Thai favourites sitting side by side. The menu highlights are many and varied, but standouts include a whole crispy fish with salted yellow curry coconut sauce, soft shell crab bao with apple slaw, a slow-cooked rib fillet with roasted chilli and lime sauce, and smoked rice noodle nachos with coconut cheese sauce.
This new Brisbane restaurant doesn't let you down in the happy endings department, either. The sweet sticky rice and coconut ice cream we had for dessert was also ridiculously good.
Longtime's cocktail menu is equally kicking—we'd happily spend a night at the bar trying them all.
New Brisbane restaurant and bar, Longtime is open six nights a week, Monday through Saturday, so get yourself down there!
