Head To The Fernvale Country Markets
Fernvale is a tiny little town on the way to Wivenhoe Dam, and it’s famous for the local bakery's award-winning pies. So aside from making the road trip for a pie, you should also stop in on Sunday at the Fernvale Country Markets. The markets run out of the Fernvale State Primary School on the Brisbane Valley Highway. Think local fruit and veg, handmade wares, and undiscovered treasures.
Check Out Sunday Social On The Green
You know that grassy knoll in South Bank that you can BYO to? The one with the 10/10 view of the Brisbane skyline. Well, each Sunday you can set up shop on the deck chairs, share some ciders with the girls, and listen to free, live music. Bring a cheeseboard and we’re calling it, this is the perfect Sunday.
Experience Next-Level Pampering
One Wybelenna is tucked away in the leafy, secluded suburb of Brookfield. The luxury day spa is housed in the former home of an architect, so you can only imagine how striking this spot is. Book in for a relaxing massage with your bestie if you’re ready to treat yourself like the queen you are. Don’t forget to book in for a session in the Magna Pool, too.
Support Local Brisbane Designers
On the first Sunday of every month, South Bank is taken over by the Young Designers Market. The market features a collection of Brisbane’s best underground designers and is the perfect spot to find some seriously unique pieces for your wardrobe. Plus, you get to support other local girl bosses. Winning! Catch them from 10am to 4pm.
Study Up On Brisbane’s Her-Story
History shmistory. Grab your girls and head out for a day of edu-taining her-story lessons with Herstory Brisbane. The tours are run by a guide who takes on the role of iconic novelist Rosa Caroline Praed who teaches you the her-story of Brisbane with humour, sass and a spoonful of learning. You’ll get an insight into the women who shaped Brisbane, and hopefully leave the tour feeling all kinds of empowered and inspired.
Have A Brow Party
Yes, a brow party. As in, a party with champagne and your best mates where you all get your brows done. Sounds weird, but it’s a thing. And we love it. The legends over at Brooklyn Beauty Bar are famous for their brow parties, so we’d be booking one in stat if we were you. The fun doesn’t stop at brows either, you can opt for pedis, manis and even blow drys.
Try Laser Tag, Because Why Not
If you and your crew are in a bit of a social rut, may we suggest a spot of laser tag?! Indooroopilly will be hosting free (!!!!) inflatable laser tag that glows in the dark. Look, some may say this is for kids, but we say it looks damn fun. The pop-up will be in centre until October 7.
Be Really, Really Nosey
If you don’t love snooping around people’s houses, sorry to say it, but you’re a liar. Iconic Australian Houses: An Exhibition by Karen McCartney will be in town until 18 November and gives you a look at some of the most iconic Australian homes from the last 60 years. Think, stunning photography, 3D models, interviews and more. Your inner sticky beak will love this, and you’ll get some home inspo at the same time! Kmart, we’re coming for you.
