Tucked away in the CBD on the corner of Margaret and William Street—just above Marketcart—it’s easy to miss this spot, but it’s well worth venturing upstairs. Why? Because this is not just a rooftop bar, kids. This is a restaurant that does breakfast, brunch and lunch damn well. Their philosophy is a simple one, but it’s all important: support local produce, get creative and churn it into scrumptious hero dishes.

100km Eggs Benny
100km meaning all ingredients are sourced within that radius, unfortunately, this isn’t a literal 100km sized eggs benny, folks. Order this guy with the grilled chorizo for a seriously decadent start to your morning and one of their breakfast cocktails, if you so fancy. Taking your morning espresso as a martini only seems fitting when dining on a rooftop.
Or, Gentleman’s Honey & Whisky Oats
Are you sensing a theme, here?! The breakfasts at Blackmarket Bar & Grill are delightfully boozy if you want them to be. This one takes inspo from the team’s Scottish ancestry and pairs the classic porridge and banana combination with a dash of Monkey Shoulder Whisky. How very grown up.
Sirloin Steak Sandwich
Made with the Ekka’s winning sirloin, you can guarantee this will be one of the best steak sandwiches you’ll ever eat. Think fresh, local sourdough, caramelised onions, tomato, relish, and homemade slaw, served with a side of some of the best damn potatoes we’ve ever eaten: the rosemary salted chips.
Blackmarket Vege Patch
If you’re not exactly a meat eater, the Blackmarket Vege Patch will make your day. Think chargrilled Queensland cauliflower and sweet potato on a bed of hummus with baby spinach, radicchio leaves, pesto butter beans and house candied walnuts. Go one up on an already great thing and add halloumi if you know what’s up. The Queensland Harvest Ravioli is another killer vego option with spinach and ricotta ravioli tossed with burnt butter and Queensland pumpkin—drooling already, or just us?!
Aside from the breakfast cocktails, you should probably pair your drinks with a serve of the lemon grilled halloumi and the Queensland artisan cheese plank—yes, plank—for good measure.
The drinks list is a delicious ode to Queensland. Think Buderim Ginger Giddyup that pairs spicy ginger beer with vodka, chili and central Queensland lime juice and a punny nod to Gin Gin.
No matter what mealtime you pop in for (make it all three?), you’re in for a real treat at this new Brisbane hotspot.
