Turn off Netflix, because you can finally have a real, not-in-your-living-room movie night, and maybe even see a flick you haven’t had on repeat for weeks.
Yatala Drive-In, the OG socially distanced movie theatre, is officially back in business, with a short but sweet program of recently released movies, as well as some cult-classics, seven nights a week. Currently, you can head along to catch Birds Of Prey, catch the action-packed Jumanji: Next Level, or be taken back to your childhood by Toy Story.
If you're keen to get back to the silver screen, tickets are just $35 per car, the drive-in’s standard prices. There will be a few adjustments made for social distancing for the time being—bathrooms are for emergency use only, you’ll have to take your rubbish home and while the snack bar will be open, the queue will be 1.5m a part. They’ll also only be running at 50 per cent capacity, so make sure you grab tickets fast for your planned session
Check their site regularly for updates on what's playing, and do your part to support a family business that has been in Brisbane for decades. Yatala Drive-In is run by the brothers behind New Farm and Red Hill Cinemas, as well as the stunning Elizabeth Picture Theatre, so you know they're passionate about bringing good cinema to the city.
But not everyone's ready to get back out into the world just yet. If you’d prefer to just stick to Netflix, here’s all the new movies to watch.
