In case you hadn’t already heard, the Gold Coast is currently home to one of the best entertainment venues in the country. Yep, for one hot month, the Gold Coast Spiegeltent will be bringing you the best live acts from Australia and around the globe, including music, cabaret, comedy and theatre performances.

Kicking off on Wednesday 17 April and closing on Sunday 12 May, Spiegeltent has a jam-packed roster, so we’ve put together a list of the seven must-see events, just to make your decision-making a little easier. You’re welcome.

Limbo Unhinged | Wednesday 17 April-Sunday 12 May

If you’re only going to go to one Spiegeltent event, it should probably be this one. Headline of the performance season and nominated for a Helpmann Award, this show is definitely a spectacle that needs to be seen to be believed. The international cast of the show features world famous stuntmen, circus performers, acrobats, dancers, beatboxers, and musicians, and the whole project is brought to you by the creative minds behind Madonna's Rebel Heart tour. Osher Gunsberg: Back, After The Break | Saturday 20 April

Everyone’s favourite TV show host and media personality is bringing the story from his successful autobiography to the stage. This raw, honest, genuine and hilarious performance unveils the story of his life, from growing up in suburban Australia and dealing with bullying to coping with mental illness and alcohol addiction. You’ll get a look at a never-before-seen side of the popular TV personality, as well as plenty of laughs to balance out the serious stuff. Tom Gleeson: Joy | Friday 26 April

Known for his dry sense of humour, his unmatched wit and for hosting the much-loved Hard Quiz on the ABC, comedian Tom Gleeson is taking to the Spiegeltent stage with his live show, Joy. There’ll be everything you know and love Tom for—satire and just the right amount of political incorrectness. He has performed at every major comedy festival in the world, and is no stranger to the stage, having been nominated for three Helpmann awards. Exposing Edith | Tuesday 30 April

After many critically acclaimed seasons at a range of international film festivals and theatres, Exposing Edith is coming to the Gold Coast. Charting the tragic life of French icon Edith Piaf, this beautiful and enchanting cabaret show features all of her famous songs, including the iconic La Vie en Rose. Curated for a modern audience, the show takes the classic French influence of her work and transforms it into a timeless and stunning show, whether you’re a fan of Piaf’s work or not, you won’t leave disappointed. The Space Cowboy: Stranger Than Fiction | Saturday 4 May

Before we say anything about this show, it’s probably important to mention that this guy has 55 Guinness World Records to his name. Yep, 55. Which gives you a pretty good idea of what you’re in for. Action-packed and thrilling, you will get to see the outrageous acts and science experiments that have made him so famous. Think flying chainsaws, human guinea pigs, mind control and blind-folded arrow catching. If you get nervous easily, this may not be the one for you. Joan As Police Woman: Damned Devotion | Wednesday 1 May

New York artist Joan As Police Woman (Joan Wasser) is returning to Australia for the first time since 2014 with her full band and new album Damned Devotion. Since the release of her debut album in 2006, her beautiful and ethereal sound has evolved through six studio albums and an impressive list of over 1000 live performances. Her Spiegeltent show is going to be one of her most intimate and emotional yet and is sure to be one gig you definitely need to see. Carlotta: Queen Of The Cross | Sunday 12 May

Political activist, showbiz royalty and Australia icon, Carlotta’s outrageous, hilarious, and brutally honest performance makes her a must-see on your Spiegeltent list. She was the inspiration for Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, and now she is back to inspire again with her incredible stage performance. Accompanied by Helpmann Award winner Michael Griffiths, she will be singing classic show tunes from all her favourite composers and performers, including Peter Allen.
