It’s been over twenty years since Baz Luhrmann shattered your heart into a thousand tiny pieces via his modern-day telling of the Shakespearean epic, Romeo and Juliet. You were spellbound. Remember the giddy lovers eyeing each other nervously through the tropical fish tank? Their impatient love in the pool? The distress of their poisoned deaths? And now, thanks to HOTA, you are able to relive the ache and ecstasy all over again!
Young Hearts Run Free is a nineties-inspired masquerade ball, set to the full Romeo and Juliet soundtrack. Think hits from favourites like Radiohead, Everclear, The Cardigans, Garbage, Desree and Butthole Surfers.
The ball will be brought to life by soon-to-be-announced musicians, performers and special guests, and a 1997 DJ set will follow straight after.
The show has sold out in Sydney, Melbourne, Darwin and Brisbane, so make sure you get your tickets quick. It promises to flood you with nostalgic joy.
Let’s dress up, dance, laugh and cry all over again.
