We know, that you know, everything there is to do in Redfern. Right? Wrong.

No doubt you’re reading this list and preparing to scroll through muttering a mix of done it, been there, seen that. While we love your enthusiasm, we’re here to tell you that although Redfern is full of all the obvious things you’d expect from one of Sydney’s best suburbs, there’s a whole lot more going on.

We’ve teamed up with Thirdi Group, the in the know folk behind Redfern’s hottest next development, (feat. one damn tasty pop-up café) 88onRegent, to bring you this list of the 10 best things you didn’t know you could do in Redfern.

It’s no surprise really, that the guys behind one of the most sort after developments coming to Redfern, along with a killer café menu and coffee from Pablo and Rusty’s, would have their finger on the pulse.

AND, did we mention that Café 88onRegent have also teamed up with the guys from Grumpy Donuts for the first day of their opening weekend, Saturday 29th October, to give away free Donuts to everyone who enters the competition below until they run out!

So guys, we dare you to cast your eyes over this way, and get suitably excited. Because no matter what your flavour, we guarantee there’s something hidden in Redfern that’s right up your alley.

Go on, we double dare you.

Get Your Laughing Gear Around The Daily Breakfast Sanga @ St Jude

If you’re like us, chances are you feel guilty for ordering the same ol’ faithful when it comes to your daily brekkie. Hit the ham and cheese croissant on the head did we? Then you need to make a beeline to St Jude. Offering a daily breakfast sanga these guys are guaranteed to the most important meal of the day, the most interesting, not to mention the most Insta-worthy. Pair it with their signature cup of joe and you’ll make every morning great.

Make Art, Drink wine @ The Work-Shop

Who doesn’t love a little bit of arts and crafts? Add a glass or two of Cake Wines and we can’t sign up quickly enough. The Work-Shop offers a range of hands on activities from storytelling to life drawing and our favourite, learning how to use watercolours like a boss while sampling a drop or two from Redfern’s resident cellar door, Cake Wines. Sign us up.

Short Back And Sides @ Tommy J Barber.

If you’re longing for the days of old, where you knew your barber by name and could drop in for a chat and a short, back and sides, you need to get yourself down to Tommy J’s. There’s only the one cut on the menu, so you know it’ll be the best short, back and sides of your life.

BYO Wine & Wood fire Pizza @ La Coppola

There are no three things greater than the letters B. Y. and O. Especially when you join these three with 100% authentic wood fired pizza, along with a few of your mates, to create the perfect night out. La Coppola is a taste of wood fired perfection right here in Redfern; the locals are already on to this one, so add it to your list.

Get Cultured @ 107 projects

This not for profit, volunteer run, creative space is the perfect spot for your next culture fix. Whether it’s art, film, dance classes or the written word, the guys over at 107 Projects will have you impressing all of your mates with your newfound knowledge in the arts.

Taste Test Some Craft Beers @ The Noble Hops

This craft beer bar serves up, wait for it, craft beer! These guys celebrate all that is great and local when it comes to hops, with their ten quality taps reserved for as many local brews as they can get their mitts on. Keeping it local, the team here encourage hungry punters to bring in a pie or two from La Coppola, so you can rest assured you’ll not only be drinking well, but eating well, too.

Zen out @ Humming Puppy

You’ll be forgiven for thinking you’re in New York when you hang out in the swanky loft style locale that is Humming Puppy. Whether you’re perfecting a downward dog or learning to stand on your head, this Redfern yoga studio is one of the newest, and better looking, yoga studios on the Sydney block.

Lick Real Italian Gelato @ Ciccone & Sons

Beware of imitations when it comes to your favourite dessert. Ciccone & Sons are the real deal. With a gelato machine direct from Bologna you’ll be eating better than the Italians do (big call, but seriously guys, try it for yourselves) five days a week.

Workout at Australia’s best Gym @ Lift Performance Centre

These guys were voted best new independent gym earlier in the year and when you walk in it’s easy to see why. 100% community focused, try your luck on the gymnastic rings, you have four years to perfect your routine.

Tuck Into A Sunday Gin Brunch @ Moya's Juniper Lounge

Forget what you think you know about a Bloody Mary and replace that with a Red Snapper. Moya’s serve up a Sunday gin brunch, every week from 2pm, with their take on the brunch favourite. The Red Snappers combine the gin you would find in a Bloody Mary, mixed with fresh tomato juice, dry sherry and natural wine. It’s the best way to get the party started, or let’s be honest, keep it going, this weekend.

Try out the best bits of Redfern for yourself thanks to Thirdi with coffee and donuts at their new pop-up cafe, 88onRegent, followed by dinner and drinks at Redfern Continental, a double scoop of gelato at Ciccone & Sons then a night cap at Moya's Juniper Lounge. Just fill in your details below for the chance to win!
