Best Online Beauty Buys

best online beauty buys

Makeup is a pretty mystifying world. Do we contour anymore? Or is it strobing?  What the hell actually is contouring and strobing? For those blessed enough with the skills to master this mystifying world, you’re my idols. One thing that I do pride myself on, is my extensive knowledge of online shopping. So I sat down, flexed my (minimal) muscles and began typing.  It seems only fair I share my knowledge about where to buy makeup and someone will finally teach me how to nail a cat eye? Pretty please.

Mecca Cosmetica

With stores dotted around out delightful city, we can’t not include Mecca.  Really need that new foundation but don’t have time to pop into a shop?  Just buy it online and it’ll be at your door in 1-2 business days if you’re in a metro area.  It’s free shipping over $75, but let’s be real…… that’s a pretty easy sum to get to at Mecca.

Strawberry Net

Ah good ol’ Strawberry Net.  This one has been around for a while and there’s good reason for it. With over 30,000 items from 750 brands, it’s highly unlikely you won’t find what you’re looking for here.  If that’s not good enough for you, the products are almost always super discounted. With free shipping on your first order and a USD30 minimum on subsequent orders, you’re all set for shopping heaven.

ASOS

ASOS is a bit of a sneaky one in the online shopping world because it has just so much stuff!! With free standard shipping over $40 and free returns, you’re set.  With everything from foundation to eye shadows, mascara, brushes, makeup remover and wipes, you’ve got everything you could ever possibly want here.

Adore Beauty

This one is a little different.  Adore Beauty is your new haven for all things skin, makeup, haircare, to fragrance.  With over 10,000 items from over 150 brands, Adore Beauty is an Aussie owned gem. The one major plus about being Aussie owned and operated- free standard shipping + free samples when you spend over $50 in one order!

Jeffree Star

This cruelty-free range is a lipstick lover's heaven.  With a range of matt colours retailing at $18 USD, Jeffree Star is your new go-to when it comes to getting the latest matte lip looks.  And with only USD10 in shipping and cruelty-free……. this kinda breaks my Kardashian loving heart to say- but it beats Kylie Cosmetics.

Beauty.com

Literally, a one stop shop. With everything from bareMinerals to NARS, Smashbox and Urban Decay (yes, Naked Palettes), you’d be pretty hard-pressed to not find what you’re looking for on here. They’ve even got handy little how-to videos so that you can kind of learn how to use the products that you’re buying.

Bellabox

I love a magazine subscription—every month you basically get a present to yourself.  And Bellabox works on a similar principal.  For a flat monthly fee ($15 +ph) you receive a box in the mail full of specially selected samples of products that the team have chosen just for you.  This way, it’s the best of both worlds.  You get to try a bunch of different products, and you know exactly where you can get them once you can’t live without them!

Violet Grey

Only want the best of the best, the most luxe items? Look no further than Violet Grey.  Everything they sell has been tested according to the ‘Violet Code’—so you know its top stuff. Unfortunately, for this one, you need a forwarding address in the US (or a good friend) to be able to get the stuff to Aus.

ELF Cosmetics

Standing for ‘Eyes Lips Face’ ELF are high quality, affordable cosmetics. They’re based right here in Melbourne, and over $60, standard Australia Post shipping is free. They’ve got everything you could need on there from foundation to eyes, lips, nails and even the right tools.

After you've bought the products, read how to perfect your winged eyeliner here.
