Ditch the sweat pants for some fancy pants because on Saturday, 1 August, Black Star Pastry is calling on you to get ‘Diggin’ for Diamonds’. In collaboration with foodie tour organisers, Straight to the Source, this experimental patisserie in Sydney is hosting a day out in the Southern Highlands dedicated to diggin’ for the most delectable of diamonds, the Black Perigord Truffle.
To celebrate Black Perigord Truffle season, your day will start with a fortifying morning tea at Regional Restaurant of the Year, Biota Dining (a good start in our books). After you’ve fuelled up , guests will also be invited to put those neglected cargo pants to good use for a truffle hunt with adorable truffle dogs (note: dogs are not made of truffles, but trained to find them) at Yelverton Truffles in the NSW Southern Highlands.
After the truffle hunt, patissier extraordinaire of Black Star Pastry, Christopher Thé will be guiding guests through a delicious gourmet master class. The day will culminate with a truffle-infused lunch, coupled with equally intoxicating wine tastings from local award-winning winery, Tertini Winery.
You can choose to get the tour bus back to Sydney, or if you want to make a whole weekend of it, book yourself a room at Biota (they’re offering a special one-night accommodation package for tour guests).
Don’t miss out! Places are very limited so get your truffle loving hands on a spot.
