What's On

This Weekend In Sydney

By Ellie Schneider - 29 May 2014

Once again Sydney is absolutely jam-packed with fun events, activities and festivities this weekend. With everything from foodie pop-ups and live music to a shopping extravaganza and pork party (that's right!), here's our guide to the best things happening 'round town. Hop to it!

THURSDAY 29TH

I Dream Of Pork At Bishop Sessa

If the thought of crispy, roasted pork has you salivating (and let's be honest, who isn't?) Bishop Sessa is offering the perfect event to kick-start your weekend festivities. Combining two of our favourite things, Executive Chef Paul Cooper will be creating a five-course feast of delectable piggy dishes which co-owner, Erez Gordon, will match with some great wines. If there's a better way to spend a Thursday night, we don't know it. For bookings contact Bishop Sessa on 02 8065 7223.

Desert Designs Collector's Collection Launch

In the mood for a bit of retail therapy? Fresh off the back of their amazing MBFWA show, Desert Designs is curating a special pop-up exhibition in their Chippendale store (81 Regent Street) entitled the 'Collector's Collection'. You can expect a new range of beautiful one-off garments and accessories, linen from Desert Designs and Kip & Co collaboration and an adorable new kidswear range to impress the littlies in your life.

FRIDAY 30TH

Walk This Way! At Pavilion On George

Still looking for things to do in Sydney? If you haven't heard of the newly opened Pavilion on George, you'd better #walkthisway . . . the one-stop shopping destination is absolutely overflowing with new cafes and shops galore! Get down today for a series of jaw-dropping performances, giveaways, discounts, and competitions—your shopping mecca awaits!

SATURDAY 31ST

The Farmed Table Pop-Up

One of our favourite Sydney cafes, Bangbang in Surry Hills, is being transformed each Saturday night for 'The Farmed Table', a menu featuring boutique producers, farmers, winemakers, and artisans. The menu changes weekly and focuses on a particular region, this week being the glorious Hunter and Hawkesbury districts and we can't wait to see what's served up. For reservations phone 0422 101 146.

Chimmi Changa's Burrito Bar

There's nothing better than a great burrito, so we're super excited to be heading to Mortdale's newest Mexican pop-up in Sydney, Chimmi Changa's Burrito Bar on Saturday night. Burritos don't do it for ya? Ok, crazy, don't sweat it; there are also delish tacos, nachos, and taquitos to get you in the mood. Arriba!

SUNDAY 1ST

Salt Meats Cheese Butchery Class

For the love of lamb! Salt Meats Cheese is hosting a butchery masterclass celebrating the most Australian of all meats and we can't wait.  Learn how to cook the perfect roast, while snacking on cured meats and beer throughout the class. Now that's our idea of a happy Sunday! Register here.

Rock 'n' Roll & Alternative Market

Part market, part music festival, this Sunday boogie is sure to knock your socks off! Staged at Syd Uni's Manning House, there'll be stallholders selling everything from record vinyl and rock posters, to vintage clothing, jewellery, and unique furniture. Slick your hair back and don your red lippy, this is going to be one heck of a good time!
