Game One of the State of Origin kicks off next Wednesday, May 28, and because we'll all be in need of adequate refreshments and some solid snacks, we've rounded up the best places in Sydney to cheer the mighty Blues to victory! Down with the Maroons!

Will 2014 be the year we finally turn the tide? #uptheblues

Golden Sheaf Hotel | Double Bay

The Golden Sheaf Hotel is the ideal spot for you to get behind the Blues this State of Origin series. We believe that nothing accompanies watching the footy quite like a steak and fries, a schooner of your favourite beer and a crowd of people with the exact same idea!

The Bucket List | Bondi

There's no better place to celebrate the ultimate in Aussie competitiveness than beside the sand and surf. The Bucket List in Bondi will be pouring $5 Hahn and Super Dry and $10 margaritas whilst serving its delicious and might we say famous $5 tacos! Patrons can eat and drink to their hearts desire while catching all the action of the game on the big screen.

Newport Arms Hotel | Newport

Catch all the excitement of the State of Origin at Sydney's largest waterfront beer garden, the historic Newport Arms Hotel. Kick back and enjoy the laid-back pub feel as you cheer on the mighty Blues! And for nourishment the pizza menu is one of the best on the Northern Beaches, plus don't forget the extensive grill and salad selection—even quinoa folks! This is a definite tick on your where to watch State of Origin Sydney hit list.

Coogee Bay Hotel | Coogee

The Coogee Bay Hotel will absorb you in all the action come kick off! Boasting some of the biggest screens in town, this is the ultimate State of Origin experience. A favourite for sporting spectators, this bustling venue will no doubt provide an excellent atmosphere for the footy fanatics desperately wanting to cheer the Blues to victory!

The Oaks Hotel | Neutral Bay

On the North side? Head to the heart of Neutral Bay and settle yourself somewhere close to the big screen. The Oaks Hotel is a great pub for soaking up all the Sydney State of Origin action, offering some of the best pub food in Sydney (the steaks are second to none!) as well as a vast menu of craft beer, wine and cocktails—there's no better combination when it comes to watching the beloved game.

Clovelly Hotel | Clovelly

The Clovelly Hotel has you covered this State of Origin series—great beer, enthusiastic crowds, and just when you thought it couldn't get any better, the chance to win a VIP package for Origin 2014. Simply buy yourself a VB (we won't judge!) anytime before June 30 and you'll go in into the draw to win The Cloey's 'King of The Couch'. Nothing better than watching the game in VIP style!

The Beresford Hotel | Surry Hills

Rounding off our list of where to watch this year's State of Origin in Sydney is none other than crowd favourite The Beresford Hotel. Screening each game live, catch every inch of the action, not to mention the happy hour between 5pm and 7pm for $5 pints, $5 house wines and $5 house spirits.
