While they might not have ever hit the charts or had a music video go viral on YouTube, there’s plenty of movie tunes that you no doubt know every bar to, and could probably hum from beginning to end given the chance. It’s these musical numbers that are being brought to life in a live concert from the Queensland Symphony Orchestra this November when Cinematic hits the stage at QPAC for one day only, giving you the chance to hum The Avengers theme as loud as you can and not get any strange looks for once (though you might get shushed).
Some of the famous movies scores to be featured include tunes from Harry Potter, The Lord of The Rings, How To Train Your Dragon and Star Wars, with more to be added, so no matter your preferred fantasy or sci-fi blockbuster, you’re bound to recognise the opening bars. The concert plays tribute to award-winning composers like Hans Zimmer, John Williams, James Howard and plenty more musical geniuses who’ve made us feel happy, sad or on the edge of our seats—because we all know there’s no tension without an anxiety-inducing soundtrack.
It’s all going down on Saturday 30 November, with both a matinee and evening performance on the cards, and you can grab tickets to either show here.
